Reading these recent reviews makes me feel like I did something wrong. I followed the directions to a tee and they came out awful; very bland taste. If it weren't for the icing on the cookies, I would throw them away.

Perfect sugar cookie recipe. I've tried millions of recipes online trying to find the best sugar cookies I could roll out and cut, that aren't like cake but not crunchy either. These are perfect. I add Butter flavor to the batter and love it. Perfect for cookie cutters and frosting.

I agree! No one I talked to had ever heard of using confectioner's sugar to roll the dough on. I brought these 'plain' ole cut out and colored sugared cookies to a swap and I think they were better than any of the fancy cookies I swapped them for. :( Glad I have the recipe and the ingredients to make more!

This is a solid sugar cookie recipe. It works every time and isn't fussy. My favorite part is that you can roll some of the dough a little thicker for the decorated cookies and then the rest of the dough very, very thin (I use a fluted round cutter for un-frosted wafer-type cookies (baking time is quite reduced.

Best Sugar Cookie recipe I have ever used! I even use it "as is" at high altitued (9000'. I have never had any non-performance issues with the dough, and I have made this recipe at least 50 times. On occasion, I do change the flavor, but the basic dough is ab-fab!

Amazing! I made these as a little holiday treat and they are the best sugar cookies my family has ever had. Although I cut the bake time down by about a minute to a minute and a half to make them a little more doughy in the center (which is the way I like them :. And I used a different icing than Alton spoke of. But they are still epically amazing. :

Yum! This is the second time I used this recipe. I tried another one, but it didn't come close to the flavor and texture of these marvelous buttery bites. This one I will keep and use again and again. It just makes my "Merry Christmas" cookie plates, merrier!
