I made this baked potato tonight for dinner and my Husband and I loved it! It was simple, easy, and good. After it was cooked and I cut it open I just added some butter, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and some chives. I will definitely make this again and again. I got it saved in my recipe box.

So I'm 20 and this was my first time baking a potato. At first I was little nervous and threw in an extra one as tester. Bu as soon as I opened the oven I knew I had aced it with this recipe. It was AMAZING! Next time I will use a bit of garlic and other spices/herbs along with the salt to add my own touch :.

Update: I'm making them again!!!!! due to popular demand! xD!

Simplicity at its finest. This baked potato rivals those at Tahoe Joe's restaurants (best I've ever tasted, bar none in Fresno, CA. At home, I don't think it gets any better than this.

I have been using Alton's baked potato method for around a month now and I still can't get enough of them. The skin on the potato is actually both tasty, slightly crunchy, and thin; a well-combined combo that's rather difficult to find at a restaurant. Unlike baked potatoes at restaurants, these potatoes turn out so well, I don't even feel that they need anything additional on or in them. After cooking the potatoes, I just let them cool and eat them as is. Truly a perfect item for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and healthy to boot.

Even my kids loved this recipe. They say it is the best baked potato they have ever had. Skin has just the right crunch and they think it is the best part of the whole thing! We stuff ours with bacon, sour cream, onions, broccoli and cheese, or shredded cheese. Great! Thanks Alton!

Not long ago, my wife and I discovered the best baked potato ever: the Outback's! Then, today, I tried Alton's recipe, and it tasted the same, or better!!! So that's how they do it... oiling the potatoes, and then salting them!!! Thank you for the "secret" recipe, Alton!!!
