My kids can't eat wheat. I used to feel badly that they always had second-rate desserts -- the kind you'd serve to your kids, but not offer your company. Never again! This recipe is so spectacular that from now on, everyone is getting the gluten-free version. What a gift to my kids who get to eat this great treat! Thanks Alton. I will hope for more recipes liek this one.

Alton Brown...YOU ROCK! This is the best gluten free cookie I have ever had and it was so easy to make. My non gluten free friends can't tell they are gluten free. I really hope you will come up with some other gluten free recipes or have a whole show dedicated to gluten free!

Thanks Alton for a wonderful recipe. I have been eating gluten free for many years and have never liked the commerical gluten free products so I just haven't bothered to eat bakery goods anymore. Whole Foods bakery products use soy flour which I am also allergic to so I was very excited to try this recipe. I am so excited to have a chocolate chip cookie that I can eat AND tastes wonderful. Please, please give us some more gluten free recipes. Thank you, thank you!!!

Excellent recipe, I did a research paper on this modified recipe and compared to a regular chewy chocolate chip cookie one, and this one did just as well as the regular one.
It was about two times more expensive than the regular recipe though.

I am always looking for gf baked goods. These are excellent...but I think the key is to use extra-fine rice flour. Authentic Foods sells bags of these, but it is pricey...I buy my rice flour from an asian market (import from thailand seems to be finer than others for much cheaper than natural food stores.

It was great to be able to have my celica daughter enjoy "big" cookies like her brother although they both enjoyed them. As a good eats disciple I second the motion for a full gluten free show.

I just started a gluten free diet, and these cookies were easy and loved by my entire family. I added extra chocolate chips, since you can never have too much chocolate. The texture is a little different from traditional cookies, but the flavor more than makes up for the difference. I would love to see more gluten free recipes! Thanks!!

Thanks for a great cookie for those of us living the gluten free life! This cookie was pretty darn good, and the info in the episode was very simple and straightforward. You've done it again, AB!! Now how about a whole episode??

AB, I already adore you, but now you have helped me to impress my MIL. She must eat gluten free and adored these cookies. So did the flour-loving rest of the family who ate the whole batch in 2 days. Sweet, chewy, with a subtle oatmeal-like crunch. My first foray into gluten-free baking (from scratch was a delicious hit! My hints - 1 oz cookies worked better for us than 2 - and keep the dough chilled right until the last moment so it doesn't spread. YUM!
