These cookies are great! I cut a block of callebaut chocolate into slivers so the chocolate melts more into the cookie than a chocolate chip.

I prefer to bake by weight for better consistency and easier baking. Read the NY Times article "Tipping the Balance for Kitchen Scales" published Sept 13, 2011. I can't post the link to the articlehere.

After wasting about $20 worth of ingredients on another chocolate chip cookie recipe last night, this recipe was my last shot at it. All others I had tried failed. I did adjust my oven to 350 and doubled up on my baking sheets. This produced a gooey middle with beautiful golden crisp edges. I used only premium ingredients. Ghiradelli chips I reduced to 1 cup because they are large. The true test will be when my son brags. He came home last night rolling on the floor as he described his buddy's mother's cookies. I was determined to find something to make him wiggle! I'll let you know if it passes his test, but even if it doesnt...this one is mine for good! Didnt look as fluffy as the pic, but texture is wonderful.

I only rated them a 4 because we didn't exactly follow the recipe - We used whole wheat flour instead of the bread flour, and what a mistake. The cookies still tasted incredible, but they spread out so quickly on the baking sheet, and we had to take them out 5 minutes early for each batch or they would have burnt. We'll have to try them according exactly to the recipe because Alton breaks it down to the science of Chocolate Chips, we shoulda know ours wouldn't work : But yumm.. will try again!

I took a couple spoonfuls of this dough and pressed it into the bottom of some ramekins (only halfway full because it will rise. They bake up perfectly (will need to bake longer than the recipe, just use a tooth pick to make sure it's cooked through. Put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and you have a very decadent chocolate chip dessert, yum!

I'm an avid baker with a chocolate chip recipe that I call "the best chocolate chip cookies." I now have a new one. The recipe is such a pain with all the messed up measurements in ounces instead of cups, and more time & labor intensive with the dough chilling & butter melting...but thanks to the other posts with the regular measurements, I was able to make the most delicious cookies ever. They are really delicious!

6 stars! My son and I have watched Alton Brown's CCC episode at least 5 times. One Saturday, I thought my son was watching cartoons, when I entered the room, he was watching the cookie episode, laughing!
The first time I made this recipe, I messed it up completely.
I wanted to try this recipe for Thanksgiving, made a test batch tonight. Turned out perfectly! Yum. Super Yum.
When I popped a piece of the cookie in my mouth. The flavor stopped me in my tracks. I took deep breath and let the cookie melt on my tongue.
I used what I had on hand, AP flour, chocolate milk. for the chocolate I used a mix of dark and milk Belgian chocolate chunks. :
I will make them again, trying a few of the suggestions.
    Thank you Alton Brown!
P.S. Your Cinnamon Rolls Rock beyond Saturn! They are resting in my fridge tonight for the " bath" and baking tomorrow!

So I thought I would just clarify for everyone confused by this recipe: 2 1/4 cups bread flour, 1 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp milk, and 2 cups chocolate chips. I had to watch the video to get this information. And since I live in a rural area, it took FOREVER to load the video on dialup! Great cookies!
