I used to make the recipe from the back of the chip package and they would sit around for days; these don't make it through the night. I've made this recipe so many times I know it by heart. I've had varying results but the best batches came from using fresh quality ingredients and making adjustments for personal preference. And I always portion and freeze the dough beforehand so they don't spread out too much in the oven.

Any poor reviews of this cookie are probably an indication that something was done incorrectly. The first time I made them, I used all purpose flour and they were pretty good. Second time I used bread flour and they were excellent. Brought them to a party and everybody raved. Even made 1 huge one with last of second batch and it came out perfect. Tried pecans and walnuts w/ chocolate chips and still very, very good. This is just a great all around recipe, but I recommend you do not deviate if it is your first time making them. If you make them and don't like them, you did something wrong!!! Or, you just don't know a good cookie.

I have to live Gluten-Free...that means NO flour in anything!! Recipes don't always translate well...but this one was incredible :-

I had to alter things a bit ? drop the flour and baking soda ? and replace with a GF baking flour that already has baking soda.

I nearly went into Chocolate Chip Cookie overdose. The first really good cookies I?ve had in over 20 years!! Thank you!!

In all fairness, I did not use cake flour, I used all purpose flour since that was what I had at the moment. My cookies looked good, and were easy to make, but they did not have a good flavor and they were not chewey. I have tried 3 other recipes of ABs and they were terrific!

The cookies aren't bad there just isn't any flavor to them. I followed the recipe to the letter. They seem more cake like than chewy.

I made these with choco chunks and oh my....these are the epitome of chocolate chip cookies. I added heavy cream in place of milk and I think it enhanced the butter flavor. Gave these out to coworkers and even the men asked for the recipe!

Despite adding too many chocolate chips (which may be an impossibility these cookies are wonderfully chewy!!! They can also be made with salted butter, and adding NO kosher salt.
