Alton, I love your recipes and this is no exception. I can't tell you how many dozens of these cookies I have made for my family and friends and they love them. I have family in Texas that I ship these cookies to regularly. I always make a double batch. Thanks for being such a genius!

I am a Nestle's Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie fanatic and I never thought any other chocolate chip cookie recipe could compare until now. This recipe is great!! The texture is chewy. The taste is yuuuuuuuummy!!! Just a minor suggestion to future cookie makers: You really don't need the parchment paper, the ice cream scooper and the electric mixer. I did the entire recipe by hand and I thought I messed it up but I was so wrong. Try it!! You won't be disappointed.

I had to substitute 1/2c marg & 1/2c shortening for the butter. Then I used half milk choc chips instead of all semi-sweet. VERY tastey!

These cookies stayed soft for days (the ones I hid! My family loved them, and though I only put in 1 heaping cup of chips, no one knew the difference. Great recipe.

I'm not usually one to be able to sit down and eat a few cookies but this recipe was very good. They came out just crisp enough to satisfy that need and yet chewy at the same time. Very good combination. Everyone I fed them to agreed!!

I agree w/the reviews about right texture-chewy and soft-but missing something in the taste. I just don't understand it though, because this recipe is virtually the same as the Nestle recipe (a little more brown sugar and less white, but same total amount, and those usually taste good, but lack the chewy texture. It is a dilemma, but I guess I'm still searching for that perfect chewy choco chip cookie recipe. This was unfortunately not it. If you DO try this, make sure you chill the dough for a good 20 minutes before baking. Other than that, easy to follow.

I did not like these cookies at all. I gave them two stars because they DID have the right texture - chewy with a crisp exterior, but they tasted greasy and needed both more salt and more chocolate. Overall, pretty yuck. Sorry Alton.

Oh yes...these were some excellent cookies. Parchment was great, the scoop was great and I think these were the most consistent, well-made cookies I've ever made myself. Fantastic!
