Another fantastic recipe from Alton. These dumplings are a lot of work and take a lot of time, but they are sooooooo worth it. I couldn't stop eating them! They also reheat very well -- even in the microwave. If you have the time and patience, you won't be disappointed with these dumplings.

@Alexia0207 - Many vegetarians do eat eggs, however, I make this recipe all the time and I always leave out the egg. Still works perfectly.

Also, a wonderful idea is to use this wonton filling for lettuce wraps instead of wontons. I use napa cabbage leaves and make a plum dipping sauce.

These are fantastic. I skipped the tofu because I can't stand the stuff and everybody loved them -- even my carnivorous father asked for seconds!

In response to the poster below, a recipe with eggs is indeed vegetarian. Most vegetarians eat eggs and dairy. Vegans, however, do not eat eggs.

Is something considered vegetarian if there are eggs in it... My best friend is a very dedicated vegetarian and if not what can I use as an egg substitute?

Easy and delicious! Recommend using a food processor to mince veggies!

I made these for the first time tonight, and they are delish! My 18 month old daughter devoured 4 of them (with her tiny tummy, that was a lot for her. I admit I did modify the recipe slightly though...I added some cooked brown rice and some mushrooms, just to give it some contrast. I will definitely make them again (though I need to find a better way to steam them...my fault on that. ^_^ I had no pastry rings or empty tuna cans, like Alton used, so I used wadded up tinfoil...but it slipped and some of my dumplings got wet. They were still good once they had finished cooking...but I need to get some rings to make the pie tins more stable! Lol! Thanks Alton, for another incredible recipe! Keep 'em coming! Cheers!

This is a Vegetarian's delight, at least for me. I loved this recipe and all of the veggies mixture. I tried it for the first time and it came out great! I think I found another best of the veggie world recipe. Thanks Alton!

This recipe was awesome! I made it for my daughter's 1st birthday celebration and needless to say they didn't stick around to long. While I was making them, my meat eating family said that they would never try them because the dumplings had tofu in it. Alton Brown's recipe made them all into lairs! My crew devoured them. What tofu? You don't even taste it. These were very tasty, I made them again a few days later because I had some filling left over ( I doubled the recipe.
