This is simple and delicious. Following the recipe precisely gives you a good basic fried okra. Add spices to the mix like Cayenne to give it kick and your own twist.

The only thing my son, who is coming home from his first year of college, asked for is fried okra. I was just browsing foodnetworks okra recipes - and this one is the closest to mine - except I use bacon grease - and crumble bacon in the okra during cooking. So good!

    Perfect!

Because of eating my mom's fried okra, I cut it thinner, but otherwise no change. The taste ties Mom's for the best I ever had.

Yummy & super easy! Rethink slimy okra. I did add about 1T cayenne pepper to the cornmeal & fried in peanut oil. Make sure you hit these fresh out of the pan with a bit of salt

It was ok good. It is easy and tasty. I've got to figure out how to give it some zing.

This is delicious! I bought the frozen precut okra at the health food store which made it even simpler to make. Okra has a wonderful, simple taste, i just loved this recipe. Thank you Alton (:

Easy to prepare and fun to eat. I substituted crushed crackers and flour for the cornmeal and it was still tremendous. Everyone should give okra a chance!

Thank you, AB for no more slimy okra (especially since no one else in my house eats okra at all. More for me - tee-hee

Not quite as good as my mom's, in my opinion, but definitely very good. My wife said it was the best she'd ever had, so that's good enough for me to bump this from 4 stars up to 5.

The best okra I've ever had was prepared similar to this Wet Fried Okra. But was cut thinner and it was coated with more corn meal. Then skillet fried until blackened and crunchy. It is so good and I can't wait to make it again.
