All of Alton Brown's recipes are always great and easy to follow. He is a wonderful teacher and his show is awesome. These doughnuts are always a hit. They go great with his recipe for the glaze and the chocolate glaze.

These doughnuts were so easy to make! I was expecting them to be deformed just because I have never made doughnuts before, but they were beautiful and golden. I used the glaze recipe for some and rolled some in cinnamon sugar--these were the best. Straight out of the fryer they tasted better than Krispy Kremes, but after a few hours they became a bit tough.

My daughters and I made these the day after seeing Alton Brown make them. They were very easy and delicious, especially with the glazes (we tried both. I too would increase the sugar next time and decrease the salt.

I altered this recipe to be vegan . . . switched the milk for soymilk and eggs for applesauce and water. Also, I only had one package of yeast. Nonetheless, they came out perfect. Very delicious.
However, figuring out the flour was annoying. I don't have a scale, or the bucks Alton Brown has for one, so I had to measure it out. I ended up having to add a lot more flour to get a dough that I could work with.

predictably, it takes a while to make these, but they're definitely worth it. the glazes from the same episode are both excellent as well.

My goodness these are FABULOUS and better than Krispy Kremes. My kids and husband agree. We all get involved and make these for family night. Mom rolls, Dad fries, kids dip in the glaze. I also had to add a lot of extra flour. These made sooooo many that we usually give them away to neighbors or freeze half the dough. Yum.
