I followed the recipe EXACTLY, however the amount of liquid in it made the dough quite wet, and hard to handle. I added almost 1 whole(extracup of flour before it reached a workable consistency. However, my family loved it! They loved the fluffy texture. I must admit--it WAS fluffy, even after adding more flour. This recipe is a keeper!

The most tender doughnuts ever eaten. Just like potato chips "you can't eat just one".

Doughnuts have holes--not wholes.
C'mon, Alton! Grammar up! Then eat'em up!

This recipe is awesome was there not for one thing. Don't ever, under any circumstances, fry doughnuts in peanut oil.

The dough has perfect texture but I believe it needed more sugar for the sake of sweetness. Also, lighten up on the nutmeg unless it happens to be one of your favorite fragrances. The sugar glaze is very fine but I had to make two batches.

This was the first time we made doughnuts at home and this was a great recipe.
It was easy and it turned out very good.

I made these for my church social and got lots of compliments! Older people said it took them back to their childhood. I will definitely make these again. My kids got into cutting the doughnuts and I let them glaze them afterwards. My little boy begged me for days to make these after we watched Alton make them on tv. I'm glad they lived up to his expectations
