Love this recipe! So easy and so yummy! I did use balsamic vinegar since that is what I had at home. Took this salad to a neighbor's dinner and everyone loved it. The plate was clean by the end of the meal. Also.. used Mario Batali's Italian Blend Cheese.. added some ground pepper. Everyone asked for the recipe. Thanks Anne!

Wonderful, flavorful salad. I added a pinch of sugar, just to bring out all the lovely flavors. My guests loved it! I will definitely make this again-Easy, and zesty!

Soooo good. I love asparagus and this is such a great way to eat it raw and crispy. The pecorino adds just the right amount of salt and cheesy tang. Instead of using all red wine vinegar I usually have at least one or two limes or lemons that need using, so I squeeze that juice in first and then add the vinegar as needed (to taste. Add the acid slowly and taste as you go - you can always add more, but it's real hard to take it out once it's in there. This recipe is a winner, winner.

I saw this recipe on the show and decided to try it. I noticed that ONE BUNCH of asparagus from my local market looked like HALF of what Anne used on the show. That might be why some people find the onion and vinegar overpowering.
That being said, I made this for a girls night thinking I would have leftovers... WRONG and the biggest compliment was from a friend that said, "I don't even like asparagus but this is delicious and I want the recipe!" I think that says it all.

I love all the ingredients of this salad but thought the onions and vinegar were overpowering. I will try it again with balsamic, as someone else suggested, and fewer onions.

I, too, made this for Valentine's dinner, pairing it with Giada's browned butter risotto with lobster. Husband and guests looked unsure at the idea of eating raw asparagus. Everyone ended up raving about the salad - especially with the contrast of the vinegar and crisp veg opposite the rich, creamy risotto. If you are considering making this, add the vinegar in increments until you achieve the taste you wish. Must use all components. As far as brand, the best quality of any ingredient you use helps a dish. (Doesn't always mean highest price

I just did this recipe last night for Valentine's day dinner. I was very excited when I saw her preparing it on TV, it looked so yummy and different. I followed the recipe to the T, but after marinating the salad for the hour, I felt the vinnager taste was almost overwhelming. I used Holland House red wine vinegar. Could it have been that I needed to use a different brand vinegar with less tart? Any suggestions? I will try the recipe again with less vinnager. It felt as if 1/2 cup was a tad much....We ate the salad and it was ok with a toast
