I've had them with out the cheese at a restaurant as "Devils on Horseback"... I was hoping to make them for a party a couple of weekends ago and was thrilled when I found this recipe. Everyone loved them. A week later, I made them for a BBQ and once again got rave reviews from everyone. Thanks!!

These are a HUGE hit whenever I make them. I use regular dates and they work fine. You can make ahead and refrigerate: just let come to room temperature before baking. People LOVE these and they are such an easy do-ahead finger food for any event. If you are looking for a new appetizer to wow your friends with, this is it. Thanks Anne.

The manchego cheese's gooeyness texture and saltiness make this appetizer more savory and better than the ricota cheese. Thank you Anne. I love your distintive selection.

WoW!! These were a hit at my friend's baby shower! They were called "bacon wrapped goodness" and "winners" of the party! Will definitely hold onto this recipe and use it many more times!

I really wish I could add stars...these were better than five stars!!!! I didn't use the Medjool dates, they were more expensive, so I used regular pitted dates and it came out heavenly!! I love Manchego cheese and cannot imagine using a different kind of cheese. I saved $ on the regular dates and used it to buy the Manchego. Plus, the dates are a bit smaller, so you won't need quite as much cheese. If you are checking out the reviews to decide if you should make these...trust me...MAKE THEM!!!!!!!! Members of my family that had never eaten a date before LOVED these!!! Don't leave out the toothpicks or else you will have a mess. A delicious mess, but the toothpicks def help keep them together. You should use a regular bacon, as the thicker cut will require a longer baking time. I used a thicker cut my first time and they still came out incredible, they just needed a longer time in the oven. Enjoy!!!

Delicious! Made this today for hubby and I and loved them. I did not buy the Manchego as it was very expensive, so I just used swiss cheese. I will deffintely make again but will splurge on the Manchego. (Guyere would also work.

This was a mainstay on Every Holiday appetiser Platter.Tho' Manchego Cheese wasn't available then, the 1960's.This is the New "Date Bite w/Bacon & Stuffed Cheese". If Manchego packs too much of a "punch",try Italian Marscapone Cheese. Very Creamy.May recall the Cream Cheese version.A bit tangy. With Marscapone, not a "bite" on the Tongue.

We loved these. Next time I will look for smaller dates than I had, try the manchego (just had greyuere on hand, and use the Oscar Mayer prime cut bacon - it's so lean and thin! Also, less syrup, they seem to get sweeter when they cool some.

Great recipe and can't wait to make it even better next time for our friends at the house or a tail gate!! Thanks!
