This turkey and gravy recipe is simply fantastic. I am typically not a fan of savory and sweet things together so I was hesitant to make this but I will tell you it was probably one of the best flavor combinations ever. The slight sweetness from the cider in both the turkey and the gravy are right on. Getting ready to make a open faced hot turkey sandwich with the left over gravy. Yum!!! Thanks for another winner Anne. You NEVER dissapoint.

I actually registered just so I could rate and review THIS recipe.

My husband prepared this recipe for Thanksgiving yesterday. I have never been terribly enthused about Thanksgiving. Every year I try to fight for a non-Turkey holiday feast, and each year I'm shot down. I have never enjoyed either turkey or gravy at the Thanksgiving table, preferring instead to just grab a few bites of both to make the cook happy, while filling up on sides and bread.

This turkey and gravy however.... it's different. Yesterday's turkey tasted like no turkey I have ever had before, and I'm pretty sure we've brined in recent years, so it's not just the brining that made the difference. Gravy usually bores me out of my skull, but the apple flavoring and cider bring just enough tang to the gravy to make it culinarily interesting, while not overpowering the dish.

I have asked my husband to make this recipe at least once more this season, just for us so we can freeze extra turkey and make the leftovers last longer! We only cooked a 14lb turkey for 6 people, and sent a lot home with our guests (as is tradition. We usually do this so we don't end up with lame turkey leftovers in our house, but I seriously regretted handing over every morsel of leftover turkey and gravy that we gave out this year.

Oh there WILL be another Anne Burell Thanksgiving turkey in our home in the next month! : Thanks Anne for an amazing recipe.

This was definitely a hit! I'll never go back to plain ol' turkey. One thing I would change for next time is use 1 granny smith and 2 red delicious apples for the gravy. It was a little sour for my taste. But the turkey was so flavorful and moist, it did not really need the gravy! Thanks Anne! We love you!

The BEST turkey recipe ever. Followed the recipe except used a 20 pound turkey. The moistest, tastiest turkey ever. Only negative side; there were NO LEFTOVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, today, I went out and bought another turkey which is brining at this moment. Thanks Anne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please come out with a cookbook soon.

Made chef Anne?s turkey for thanksgiving and it was a huge success. It was nice and moist with a ton of flavor! The gravy was wonderful with a hint of apple flavor ? a perfect combination with the turkey. Would recommend this to anyone willing to take the time and effort to prepare!

This was my second year cooking for Thanksgiving, last year I made Tyler Florence's Maple Bacon Turkey and I didn't think I could top that it was so good but I saw Anne's show by accident and thought her recipe looked good. And it was, so juicy and flavorful. Everyone commented how delicious and moist it was. I think this beat out Tyler's turkey from last year. I didn't change a thing in her recipe. Just as a comment about the cider, even though you add apple cider to each step it is not overly sweet but it gives everything just a hint of apple which goes nicely with the sage and other flavors. Anne you really rock with this recipe. Food network make sure you give Anne more airtime around thanksgiving next year!!!

I have a lap band and can not eat turkey because it is way too dry. However, I was able to eat some today because of this recipe. I had rave reviews on how this was the juiciest turkey I had ever made. I now will have my own traditional recipe thanks to you!

I love to try new recipes and wanted to get away from the usual deep fried turkey that we prepare. This recipe was fantastic. Everyone loved it. The flavor was balanced and it was incredibly moist. I will never cook turkey any other way again. And, I will make this recipe more than just Thanksgiving.
