I have never made chicken noodle soup from scratch before, this recipe was FANTASTIC and EASY!! My husband, who is a chef, 4 year old, and 1 year old LOVED it. I did make a few changes. I only put in a sprinkle of red pepper, NO nutmeg, and the SLIGHTEST pinch of cinnamon. I kept everything else as is in the recipe. It came out AMAZING! Not too spicy, not too weird, just a fantastic chicken noodle soup with a delicious broth!!

I was very skeptical of the cinnamon and nutmeg. I added a pinch of both and what a wonderful complement it was to the soup. The soup was very comforting and very warm in taste. The lemon also brightened it up nicely. I will definitely make this soup again. It was the perfect meal for the stormy day we had.

The cinnamon and red pepper flakes in this soup gave it a delightful change in character. I followed the recipe exactly and found that the amount of red pepper flakes was just enough to be noticed but not enough to hurt the participants. Thanks Anne, I will make this many more times.

I recently retired and have begun trying to learn to cook. I watched Anne on the food network and took to her style quickly. Now that I have tried her receipe, she's mine..... The soup was great...

Wow!! I usually don't like chicken soup, but this is good! I'm more of a ramen girl if I am going to make chicken soup. The balance of the cinnamon with the lemon with a kick of red pepper at the end is such a delicious flavor. My boyfriend is sick so I decided to make it and I hope he likes it. If not, more for me! I didn't quite go by her measurements and i used 2 lemons because the one in the video that she used was large like it was home grown. I would only suggest a cheese cloth instead of just tying the thyme. I

AMAZING! And, I don't even like chicken soup as a rule...and it looks & tastes far better than that photo shown.
I had 7 oz of boneless skinless chicken breasts & a rotisserie chicken that still had a lot of dark meat on it, so I combined them. It looked on the video like Anne used only a sprinkle of both crushed red & cinnamon, so that's what I used. Since I was making less soup than she did, I used only 1/2 a small lemon...rind & all like she did...and I think I could have used a little more...next time. I ladled it over wild rice, served some to rave reviews & froze the rest. Thank you Anne...another home run!

This soup rocks! I made this tonight and enjoyed every bite! It was the best chicken soup I've ever had. The only thing I would do differently is use less of the red pepper, as it was a bit too "hot spicy" for me. I loved the lemony and the cinnamon taste, though! I will certainly make this again. Thanks, Anne--you have great recipes and make cooking so easy!

I followed the directions with spices, and it was soooo overpowering, all I could taste was the cinnamon. For my boyfriend and I, it was inedible. I should have just put a sprinkle of the cinnamon.

My family didn't love the spices, but I did, so...five stars : I'll be making it again but with a lighter hand on the crushed red, cinnamon and nutmeg. Delicious and comforting!
