Chef Anne's verbal crutch is "SO" when she is going from one thought to another. It's not easy to talk nearly constantly about what your doing into a camera lens. It doesn't change the quality of her food or recipes.

The skate was a refreshingly nice fish. I had to come to the website for the recipe - it is very distracting how many times Anne says "SO". Check it out for yourself.

This review is also for the Spaghetti Squash/Brussell Sprouts only. I loved the Sprouts...I told my three kids that they were Sprout chips, like potato chips and they ate them! It is easy to overcook them, so I wouldn't go tooo brown. The spaghetti swuash, I agree, lacked something. While Iliked the spicy kick it had, it just seemed to be missing some extra seasoning and flavor. I would make the Sprouts again, and serve alone!

I'm sorry...I could have done this wrong, but I certainly didn't think it was tastey at all. I had made this to go with my italian sausages, but it sure didn't come out good. It really looks good while she cooks it on tv. though. I'll have to try this again at another time.

I hadn't tried preparing Skate prior to watching Anne's program. As always, her directions are clear and precise. The recipe was excellent -- the coriander was a nice !

I, too, am commenting just on the spagheti squash and brussel sprouts. First of all, let me say I am not a brussel sprout fan. But I saw Anne make this dish and was compelled to try it. I did and it is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! Wow, the spout leaves did smell like popcorn when they were in the pan, and the combination was DELICIOUS. Yes, this recipe takes time, but I pre-made the dish on Sunday and re-heated it last night with pork tenderloin and it was fantastic. Anne is such a delight and I always learn from her. Thank you, Anne, you are a Supa-Star!

This review is just for the squash and Brussels sprouts. I only took the leaves off half the sprouts and the other half I quartered. It is much easier to cook the squash cut side down in the microwave, it takes about 10 minutes (I place a small amount of water on the plate. The thing I added that made this perfect was pancetta! I sauteed cubed pancetta and then added the brussels sprouts and let them brown. I added a small amount of chicken stock and then put the lid on so they could cook through. I added the squash at the end and mixed. This was delicious!!!! I will make this again and again!!

I'm commenting only on the brussel sprouts and squash. I cannot believe how good this is. While I think Mario Batali is a wonderful chef, I believe he wins the Iron chef competition consistently because Ann is on his team. What a gift she has. Coupling the sprouts and squash is genius.
