Yummy! I never thought to make it with chicken broth, instead of beef stock, but it was great! Of course! It's one of Anne's recipes! I do put black pepper in mine, which is the only difference. She rarely ever uses black pepper, but I love it.

Loved it-but cooked a long long time! I used laddle and pulled some liquid off as I was cooking! Added salt 3-4 times!

Skip the steps of trying out a bunch of diffrent French Onion Soup recipes online & start with this one! It's fairly easy to make, just takes some time, so plan accordingly (like Anne says, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR PROPERLY CARAMALIZED ONIONS!!!!. I have substituted the sherry from time to time, with a good dry white wine or dry vermouth, and have still gotten great results. Also, using a good cheese is KEY.

Fantastic!!!, Very easy to make and it received rave reviews from my family. I made a second batch and froze it, tastes as good as the fresh batch did. Thank You Anne from a big fan.

Truly the easiest and tastiest recipe for French Onion Soup that I've ever tried. It's a bowl of sweetness that is truly satisfying. I cook with propane and it was 2 hours for the cooking of the onions and an hour and a half more of simmering. Nothing complicated -- just an occasional stir, and then what a reward! Thanks Chef Anne for another fabulous recipe.

This was really good basic and easy to make. My fiance loved it! I did the crazy thing and messed with this classic recipe, I added crimini mushrooms. Sweated them first then added the onions. We bothed LOVED this addition and I think we'll always been adding mushrooms to our french onion soup.
