I followed the recipe exactly and should have known better than to add the liquid to the crispy bacon. It immediately became soft and soggy and fatty, right back to it's original condition.
The bacon should be added after the potatoes have absorbed the liquid.

This was the potato salad of my youth, the one I grew up eating at all our family holidays, picnics, celebrations, gatherings. The best, easiest recipe I have ever made. Thank you, Anne, I loved it and so does my family! Love your show, your cooking and your recipes. (though I do cut back on the salt quite a bit

Not my grandmother's German potato salad, but very good and worth keeping in the recipe book. The vinegar flashes off a little more than I'd like, but concentrates enough that a good tang is still there. It can always use a little black pepper too. One tip: skip the salt in the potato water. If you are cooking the potaotes properly, they don't absorb much water, they don't need salt to 'brighten' the flavor, and the natural moisture/salinity of the potato is just fine on it's own. You are rinsing these potatoes, so it isn't a surface seasoning. Unless you are making salt potatoes in super salt water, you don't need it. This isn't a case of seasoning layers.

I've been trying to figure out how to make this for a while and was delighted to see it broken down into simple steps. The chicken stock is the key! I had to use a little more than the recipe called for, but otherwise it was perfect. Thanks Anne!

I love watching Anne. She enjoys her cooking and food so much. This potato salad was awesome. It was easy to fix, had ingredients normally on hand and tasted wonderful. I halved the recipe for my husband and me and there was enough left for the next day. I must say, it was better the next day. I added just a bit more broth when heating it. Go Anne!!!
