I am so surprised at all of the great reviews. I am a potato queen!! I love potatoes any way I can get them. I was so excited about this recipe, but honestly, I found them very yukky. I made them exactly as she did on the show, even got out my food mill and cast iron skillet. They had a weird taste, not at all good in my opinion. They were crunchy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside, but the taste was... blech. If I do try this again, I think I will add some pepper (never understood her thing about not using pepper, some cheese, and fry them in butter for more flavor. First time ever I have given only 1 star, but as this recipe stands, it doesn't deserve anything higher in my opinion. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the Beef Brisket though and give it 5 stars!

My family has made potato pancakes my whole life. My son (7 loves them and when he saw Chef Anne make them he wanted to try them so bad. Tonight we did and we won't ever make them any other way again. Instead of grating the potatoes, I too took my mandolin and julienned them. They were awesome and turned out perfect. We usually add some sharp cheddar to ours and next time I may try it that way. This one is definitely a keeper for us!!!

delicious and easy to make. i used a mandolin to make julien cuts of the 5 potatoes instead of grating them and it turned out delicious, just without the work of grating. the only thing is I used my cast iron skillet and I actually think they may have turned out better with a regular saute pan instead. one of the few situations cast iron may not be better.

I have been making potato pancakes for years with flour and eggs and shredded potatos....they where good but heavy and thick and cake"y". These are amazing, best potato pancake I have ever had, Creamy and light on the inside crispy and crunchy on the outside....EMMMMMMMMMMM I shredded a small onion in them as well. Don't be afraid of the vinegar, it adds a little background taste that just wakes them right up. PS don't bother weighting the potatos down, ring them out by hand a small bunch at a time or in tea towel it's much quicker

Very, very tasty! Would definitely recommend making them thin so that the inner potatoes cook thoroughly without over-browning the outside. Yum!

Every ethnic group make some kind of potato pancake and each makes them differently. If you are looking for a Jewish latke this is not the recipe for you. This is the same recipe that my German great grandmother made. I was taught to put the grated potato in a linen dish towel, pull up the edges and twist the towel as tight as possible. You will be amazed how much liquid comes out of the potatoes. We would eat our pancakes topped with canned peaches, canned pears, or applesauce. Potato pancakes were the whole meal. Thanks Anne, it brought back some awesome memories.

These potato pancakes were awesome! Even after leaving it in the oven to warm for a few hours, they remained crunchy on the outside and fluffy and moist inside! The kids loved it!

These were sooo yummy! I've always wanted to make potato pancakes, but never did because my husband is so picky... He LOVED these! I did add some white pepper. We made them small so we could eat them with our fingers along with Baby Back Ribs, Corn on the cob & Corn bread muffins. Finger foods! Great Sunday night meal!!!
