For many past years, I have always bought a jar of apple sauce as well as fresh apples. I washed, peeled and cut slices then cut slices into pieces, gently cooked in a little amount of water and regular sugar until the apples were semi-firm. I then emptied the jar of applesauce. Family members have enjoyed for years. NOW...this pork recipe from a terrific restaurant chef gave me an actual recipe with multiple ingredients. This applesauce is TERRIFIC!!!

What a fantastic meal! I prepared exactly as directed, and it turned out absolutely wonderful. I thought it would be a lot of work, but it really was very easy to prepare. Will make this again and again. Would easily feed a crowd if doubled.

Love Anne and loved this recipe! Cooked it for the first time this evening. FANTASTIC. I also steamed asparagus for something green. What a beautiful meal! I've just recently retired and have become an avid Food Network watcher. Anne is one of my favorite chefs! This recipe would be great for company. Unfortunately, one thing we don't have a lot of here in Tulsa is fresh herbs in our grocery stores. I'm considering putting in an herb garden this summer. Would be so much more fun to snip herbs straight from my own garden. I've just purchased a recipe program, and am adding great recipes as fast as I can. Hopefully I'll learn to become a much better cook!! This recipe is a keeper.

I've made this recipe at least three times, now four counting today. The first time I made this roast was for the a dinner party I had. I bought all the ingredients, I harvested the herbs from my garden, chopped, sliced, slathered the roast, put it in the pan with the cider, herb and onions. Followed Anne's instructions to a "T". The roast came out beautifulll, tasted great. I didn't care for the onions, they seemed a little sour and the applesause needed sweeting. My guest didn't touch the onions, ate some of the applesause and raved about the roast. Okay so far so good. After they left I looked at the recipe again because I couldnt figure out why the onions were on the sour side, oops......Anne would have killed me, I used apple cider vinegar instead of apple cider. Oh my gosh, what an idiot. The second time I made this I did use apple cider and everything came out more delicious. The onions were magnificent as was the chunky apple sauce.

I made the recipe as listed with the exception of using the walnuts and heavy cream due to allergies and it came out fantastic. The pork was juicy and flavorful. The applesauce was a great pairing with the pork. I will make this again but going to try boneless pork next time and will have the herb sauce marinate on the meat for a few hours before cooking to have the flavor soak into the meat a little more.

My husband kept bugging me to make this after seeing the episode, but I was reluctant, thinkingt it would turn out too sweet...wrong! The pork turned out very flavorful, but little too dry for me, I used bonesless pork tenderloin, and never could get it to brown..my fault, but my family really enjoyed it....will definitely use bone in next time. ...the saving grace for me was the apple sauce...it was fantastic!!!! I have never made home made applesauce before, and this was awesome..my eleven year old son and I fought over who would get the last spoonful ! : I will be making this again ,( but more for that applesauce...it rocks!!!

My husband and I both find that when we watch Anne Burrell's show we want to eat what she's cooking! This recipe was no exception to that general rule so we tried it. It seems her recipes are well tested as they always can be successfully reproduced by home cooks and we find her technique tips fun and helpful. As usual we had a great outcome using her recipe posted here. This produced succulent roast pork and the interplay of herbs, savory vegetable flavors, and fruit was a feast for all the senses. Eyes, nose and tastebuds all equally "ahhhhhh..."ed.

We're sometimes skeptical when a recipe user says "I changed just a few things" and then writes the review and we tend to try the recipes as written when we first use them to give them a true test. But iin this case we did change something and that was to substitute pears for the apples. We live near Hood River, Oregon, the pear producing capitol of the US, and we had access to some fresh off the trees pears to use instead of apples. They were a great substitution.
