I had never made shepherd's pie before; however, I had to try after watching this episode. While making it, I did make some changes. For one, since I was cooking for someone else who was sqeamish about the idea of eating lamb, I substituted turkey. The turkey turned out great in the dish. Next time, I will try lamb. Secondly, for the mashed potatoes on top, after mashing the potatoes, I add 4 oz. fat free cream cheese and the seasonings, then skim milk until it is the right consistency. The cream cheese helps make creamy, flavorful potatoes every time.

I've never written a review before, but this recipe pushed me to it. I saw the episode while on a plane, thought it sounded mouth-watering, came home and found it online, and made it the next day. Normally, I adjust things as I go, but I followed the recipe to the letter and I see absolutely no reason to mess with perfection. I've made it several times, and it has quickly become a staple in our home. Anne, thanks for the deliciousness!

This was by far the best recipe I have ever tried. My husband was licking the bowl clean, and can't wait for me to make this again. The flavors that came out of this dish were absolutely amazing! Thanks Ann, you made me a great cook.

This is so delicious! Both the lamb filling and the mashed potato toppings were great. Makes for tasty leftovers, as well.

Wow, this was delicious. I've tried several different Shepard's pie recipes and this was by far the best. Anne is quickly becoming my go-to chef. Don't substitute beef, the bite-size pieces of lamb make this dish. Very rich, flavorful and comforting. I substituted Guiness for the wine (which was a great accompaniment as well! to give the meal a more pub-y feel.

This dish was so wonderful!! The thyme bundle added so much flavor that I removed it half-way through the cooking time so as not to overpower the stew. My family (kids 6yrs & 8yrs included Asked for thirds! I'll definitely make it again, but not too often as it's very time consuming. Yummy!!!

It's just my husband and me and we had a boneless leg of lamb. So I cut off a piece and used that piece for the Shepard's pie. I have never made Shepard's pie with lamb before. I don't think I'll ever use anything else. It was so delicious. I thought that I would miss the onions but the leeks worked out great. I love your recipes and look forward to your shows. YOU ROCK!!!

Incredible! Growing up my parents cooked lamb and I never like it. So I was hesitant to use lamb but decided to give it a try. Simply amazing dish! All three of my kids cleaned their plates (12, 10, and 5 years old. Even my brother who is a chef said it was one of the best Shepard's Pie he's had. This will definitely be our St. Patrick's Day dinner from now on.

I made this last Sunday for dinner! It was absolutely delicious, and so very easy to make. My whole family loved it! In the past, I made shepherd's pie with ground beef. No more! Thank you, Anne - this recipe is a keeper!
