I'm always looking for the ultimate hot chocolate recipe and was hoping this would be it, but I'm just not sure. Even though it was thick it didn't have a rich, chocolaty taste. I may try to modify it somewhat along the lines of some reviewers or just keep searching for that elusive "ultimate".

I LOVED this recipe. I can't stand hot chocolate that is watered down and thin. I find it so hard to find a rich hot chocolate. This hot chocolate isn't particularly rich since there is no melted chocolate or heavy cream, but the cornstarch thickens it and tricks you a little. You wouldn't know the difference. Although! I think the chocolate taste wasn't particularly strong so I suggest using a very high-quality cocoa powder (dutch processed if possible like Valhrona. Something that has strong cocoa flavor on its' own. Hershey's just won't do this recipe justice.

OMG... according to my 12 year old twins daughters, this hot coco recipe is freaking awesome!!! I followed the recipe to the point and added a little of instant coffee. The result was a great cup of heavenly liquid that pour inside your body to give you warmth and leave you feeling cozy. Thank you Anne...

i made this & it was a huge hit ! it is really rich & perfect !
so i highly recommend this so go 4 it !
p.s : i put the ( cocoa +sugar+ cornflour all 2gether & then i added some of the heated milk maybe about 6 spoons or so , & then i mix them all really well & then u can add them all to the milk mixture so this will deffinitly prevent the scorching.

Made this a few days ago. It is great and easy, I used lowfat milk & lowfat evaporated milk. Also, I added a little extra sugar.....no need.

This is delicious as an "adult" version; however, the written instructions are wrong and would give you a big starch ball as she calls it:
Combine the cocoa powder, sugar and cinnamon in another bowl. Whisk the cocoa mixture into the warm milk mixture. Whisk the mixture frequently to prevent it from scorching.
She did NOT put cornstarch in with cocoa. Let mixture come to boil and reduce to simmer.
Pour a little of the cocoa mixture into the cornstarch to blend as a slurry, then add to the pot of cocoa. If cornstarch is added directly to cocoa, it would be a big starch ball. Wish your typists would pay better attention to the presentation and proof read before publishing!
