this cheesecake is the most decadent, delicious overdose of chocolate a chocolate lover could ever want or dream of. i had to cut very small pieces because it was so dense and indulgent. i loved it and so did everyone who ate it. next time i am going to try adding some sour cream for a little tang - but otherwise - it is fantastic!

I love to bake cheesecakes! I made this one for my boss 's birthday and it was perfect! I would not change a thing. My personal opinion ...always use the best quality chocolate for the best tasting cake! This is not the place to skimp!

This is incredible for a dark chocolate lover like myself. Bought 8 oz of semi-sweet by accident, and mixed it with 4 oz of bittersweet chips I had on hand. Didn't have crust ingredients, so smashed 2 sleeves of saltines, and mixed with 2 T butter, and 1/4 cup melted choc chips to make crust. This recipe took incredibly to these small tweaks, and it was rich, creamy, and fantastically thick. I don't like "cakey" cheesecakes and this one is sooo thick it's borderline custard. Perfect.

I made this on request for Father's Day. Everyone loved it. It is VERY rich, and a small piece will definitely be enough. I used semisweet chocolate for the topping instead of bittersweet and it still had a dark chocolate flavor. I also used prepared coffee instead of instant powder or orange. I couldn't find chocolate wafer cookies and instead pulverized chocolate teddy grahams. they worked just fine. This cheesecake is definitely worth the effort and will please any chocolate lover. I didn't have a problem with the cheesecake overflowing from my pan.

I loved this cheesecake! i made it for Thanksgiving and my whole family loved it. Very rich and chocolatey! I think when I make it again I'll use a sweeter chocolate for the glaze since it did have a very dark chocolate taste. I definitely recommend it!=]

Rich & decadent! It came out just like the photo. The only problem I ran into was when cutting it. It stuck to the knife and I was using a large, very sharp knife, also a lifer, just had a lot of trouble getting a clean slice to come out without being stuck on the knife and the crust being left in the pan. Anyone have suggestions? It was delicious, we were moaning and groaning over it.

Glad I read the reviews before preparing so I knew to use a 10 inch pan which was perfect. You can easily adapt this recipe to suit your tastes if you would rather use semi-sweet, or perhaps make a white chocolate glaze for the top. With this recipe as a guide you can really get creative. A note to some other reviewers -- baking ALWAYS calls for sweet, unsalted butter - that is butter in it's most original, basic form. No one bakes with salted butter. Surely you would ruin a recipe by using salted butter.

Absolutely delicious! Almost decadent! My family and I loved it. I think I could have baked it 5-10 minutes less, but that could be my oven.

Super easy, and absolutely amazing!! After reading other reviews, I omitted the salt from the crust...but other than that followed the recipe. Got rave reviews from co-workers and family.

Only one word fits - AMAZING. I have had horrible luck with cheesecakes in the past, and this one was absolutely fool-proof. Using the 9" springform pan, it puffed up about an inch over the pan's edges, but after it cooled in the fridge, it lowered back down to a height where the glaze still managed to fit perfectly (probably thanks to the instructions to slide a knife around the outside edge. I had trouble finding chocolate wafer cookies, so I used chocolate Teddy Grahams, and it worked out great. My friends and husband and I absolutely loved it. I plan to make this again for Thanksgiving. And then probably for every special occasion thereafter.
