this recipe is delicious! i just made them and am already in love. if you whip the butter for the length of time she recommends and follow this to the t, you wind up with the fluffiest, moistest cupcakes! also, in my case i halved the recipe and still wound up with way more than 12 cupcakes worth. the only thing i suggest is using more melted chocolate (for half of the recipe, i used about 1/4 cup melted chocolate and 1/2 cup cocoa powder. other than that really wonderful texture!

These were delish! Took the cupcakes to a party and they disappeared quickly. They were very moist and full of chocolate flavor. Dipping the cupcakes in the chocolate icing makes them even more chocolaty. Coconut lovers, the topping is delicious. The rich coconut topping is counterbalanced by the chocolate cupcake. One word of advice, make sure you continually stir the topping mixture while it is on the stove. I didn't and the eggs congealed a bit. Just used a sieve to strain out the egg bits. Problem averted. Will definitely make these again. Thanks Ann. P.S. Ann's raspberry crumble was wonderful too.

I've been wanting a good recipe for the coconut and pecan topping for a German Chocolate Cake. Thank you for it.
Interesting note - my father's mother's last name was German, from England of course.
