I made the mistake of trying to cut the recipe in half since my store only had one package of almond paste. I used two pans instead of 3, but the cake layer was so thin it burned after a few minutes. From what I could taste it was delicious though.

Not difficult...just time consuming. I used apricot jam rather than rasberry and it turned out great. Thanks Anne, this one is a keeper!

I'm guessing that's a typo so the recipe for the Royal Icing actually calls for 2 lbs of 10x sugar.

It's rated difficult, but if you are methodical and calm I don't think it is that difficult. I made it with my daughter and we have a new tradition on our hands. They're just adorable little cakes.
