I made these bars a few days ago and they turned out great! Very tasty! The only negative comment I have is that I thought the crust was a litte too thick. I've made this type of bar cookie before and prefer a little bit thinner crust so I'll use a 9-inch square pan instead of the 8-inch pan next time.
Food Network: I agree that people shouldn't be rating a recipe, either good or bad, IF THEY HAVEN'T MADE THE RECIPE YET! These posts or gripes should be deleted by Food Network as they skew the true results.

This is a wonderful recipe!!! Even my daughter who doesn't like raspberries liked this bar! Food Network: Please correct the rating on this recipe. It doesn't deserve that 1 star rating!

Yum, Yum, Yum!!! So simple and so good!! It's too bad that one person didn't just go with
it and just throw the lemon in, they would have loved it too. Food Network you should get with it and fix the recipe for others, who aren't so bold.....it's a great recipe!!! I can't wait for her show each week! PS update her stars on this recipe would you please, that 1 star is misleading!!

I just completed my first batch of bars and they look great! I used raspberry perserves from the jar. They are a hit!

I have not made the bars themselves yet but I did make the raspberry preserves and they came out perfectly! I, however, did not use not use a food mill. I simply used a potato masher to mush them. I also do not own a candy thermomoter so I just let it thicken and used to my judgement as to when to take it off the heat. I also noticed that the lemon juice was not mentioned in the recipe so I just added it after I had added the first cup of sugar!! While I was making the preserves I was also making my kids pancakes and we used the preserves as topping on our pancakes! DELICIOUS! I plan on making the bars tomorrow!

I just made the Raspberry Crumble Bars. I made it as directed, but used Sugar Free Strawberry Jam for the filling. I just loved it. The oatmeal was so good. My husband and I just had a piece warm out of the oven and topped it with some whipped topping. Can't wait to make again with another kind of jam or some rhubarb filling.
I don't understand how people can rate a recipe if they have not tried it yet. When I see a rating I think the person liked it because they have tried it. It can cost you a lot if you go out and buy all the stuff and find out that the recipe really isn't very good.

Dyanew49 - I have not made this yet, but plan on making it today. But I am a seasoned cook, and I will be using strawberries instead of rasberries because thats what I have on hand. But for the future here is a little tip for thicking it up: Use some geletin, they sell it in the grocery store, it may help out.

I think that the recipe you printed for the perserves is lacking direction. First of all it doesn't tell you when to add the lemon juice and, when following the direction as stated I ended up with expensive rasberry juice. Nothing solidified and the recipe was followed word for word.
Did anybody else have this problem?? Shut, now I can't complete my Rasberry Crumble Bar..... :-(
