When I first saw this episode I wanted to make it but didn't have the vanilla wafers. So instead I made a graham cracker crust. Well, this pie turned out SO DELICOUS. I am going to make it again and while I am sure the Nilla wafer crust is great, I think I am going with the graham crust again since I loved it so much the first time.
Best Banana Cream Pie recipe EVER!

Wow! I thought this recipe was amazing. I followed the directions from start to finish without any complications...well almost. It only took 2 tries to get the caramel right but I was scared that I was going to burn it and I took the first bactch off of the fire a little too early. The trick for me was to watch it change color and then actually watch most of the sugary bubbles disappear. That's the time to take it off the fire. I also, after reading another post, did not wait 4 hours for the caramel to cool. I waited about 30- 45 minutes. The crust was perfect, the filling was perfect, and the whipped topping with a little almond extract was even better. Everyone loved it. I took this pie over to my family's house the night before Thanksgiving so I wouldn't have to worry about traveling with it to different places and they devoured it that night...yes before Thanksgiving. Luckily they saved me a piece to sample. I'll definitely be making this pie again.

LOVED this recipe!! Made it for Thanksgiving at a friend's last year, and have been requested to bring it again. Made it for Christmas dinner with my family, and have been informed that it's the newest permanent addition to our family feast!

Great pie! And I learned how to make home made Salt-Caramel. It did take a long time to make (but the first time always does and I didn't wait 4 hours for the caramel to cool. I waited 10 min and mixed the bananas in warm caramel, and then I placed it int he fridge. I didn't have time to wait for 4 hours....Oops,but it still tasted great!

This is by far the best pie I have ever eaten! I love the salty sweet combo. It is a little labor intensive but well worth every moment. I have served this and always have gotten rave reviews. I am not a fan of banana pudding myself...I was interested due to the salted caramel. Great balance between all the flavors. Ann this is why I love your desserts!!!

I made this pie for large family get together and everyone LOVED it!! I cheated a little and used a store bought caramel, but it still tasted wonderful! I personally really liked the almond whipped cream topping. Several of my family members asked for this recipe...kudos to you Ann !!

Made this dessert at this past Thanksgiving. I have made many many pies in my lifetime being a baker but this pie was amazingly good. The flavors together are tantalizing and even though all my guests were full from dinner, after the first bite of this tasty treat, it stood no chance! it was devoured! I highly recommend this dessert. The caramel can be tricky but it's just one of those things that you can learn to do easily with practice. My advice would be to make the caramel the day before you make the pie. It leaves you time for error.

I thought this pie was disgustingly good. I had a major FAIL with the caramel though, I'm just never going to make caramel ever! No matter how many times I tried, something went wrong. I eventually had to buy pre-made caramel to save the dish :'(

deliciously tasty summer dessert! substituted sugar free jello pudding for the homemade version and it turned out perfectly. saved the leftover carmel sauce to serve over ice cream. yum! two thumbs way, way up.
