My husband it's Colombian born and raised and from a huge family of sisters that cook native food daily. I did this recipe. I have to say how very similar it is to authentic. I did just a few changes, a LOT more butter, used 3 tablespoons of brown sugar instead of reg sugar and no black pepper. If you could find Colombian quesito fresco would be ideal, but mozzarella it's good in any case. Try this :

Not even close. You should probably stick with Mexican and nothing more.

This recipe is good, but the reason why the cornmeal isn't working quite right is because it shouldn't be in the recipe. Instead use Maseca, which is a special corn flour.

I made the recipe just like the instructions state and when the arepa was done it tasted like it was raw. iI completely believe it was the cornmeal and suggest that you do not add it.

It looks good, but I think you should introduce this arepas the the way it should be. The only countries the eat the arepas are Venezuela and Colombia. Please dont say many countries.
