They were just okay. Too buttery (and I love butter and not sweet enough.

These are honestly the best pancakes I have EVER eaten. They actually have flavor unlike any other pancakes. The people who are complaining about the butter just need to use less when cooking them! You only have to LIGHTLY butter the pan for the first batch and then if you are using a nonstick pan it will be fine. Highly recommended!!!

I love this recipe. The buttermilk gives pancakes a unique flavor. I don't think there's too much butter...but I love butter : I think you should try them!! Thanks Aida, they were awesome! One of my fave pancake recipes.

I followed the recipe exactly, and should have realized that this recipe has way too much butter. It's not cakey at all, the flavor was a bit salty, it was greasy and buttery and dense beyond belief, it fell flat with time, and the texture was so greasy and not cakey that I don't think it could properly cook and it was a mushy mess. Also, there is no need for all that butter on the skillet when cooking it, the less butter the better.
It NEEDS to be adjusted like others on here have done so that there is much less butter.

Sorry, Aidia, but something about this recipe doesn't work for me. The pancakes were initially looking a little fluffy, but cooking the second side turns them totally flat. Not at all like the picture. In fact, these were the exact opposite of fluffy. I tried them 3 times thinking I must be doing something wrong. I used less butter, but that didn't do it. I got brand new baking powder but that didn't do it. I made it exactly as the recipe says, but still totally flat. And not very tasty - like sad crepes. This is the only Aida recipe that I've tried and failed with.

I found another recipe on foodnetwork site by the Cookworks and that one is easier and the first time was a complete winner.

What a disappointment! Greasy, yucky - don't know what I was thinking when it said to add a whole stick of melted butter I should have known something would be wrong. Ever try to fry something in butter at high heat? (Medium, according to the recipe. Either way, I'm sure you can find something better on this site.

I really liked this recipe. Love the butter and everything. Except it was a little too sour with the buttermilk so I did half buttermilk and half milk. I also added a teaspoon of vanilla and cinammon. My family loves it and we have it for breakfast if not every weekend every other weekend. This ones the real deal.

i love this recipe it is so good. However my husband is on a low fat diet. so i made the pancakes twice once as written and they were great fluffy comforting pancakes. the second time i made them for my husband and i replaced the butter with 1/4 c mashed sweet potatos and 1/4 c canola oil. i also used canola oil in the pan for cooking instead of butter. The pancakes still came out great they were still fluffy and crispy around the edges. So if you want to lower the fat in these go for it they are still really good.

This recipe is so good that people come over my house just for these pancakes! They taste better than any pancakes you will get at a restaurant. Best part is they are easy to make.

...or the afternoon, which is when I made them. The only problem I had was with my lousy griddle which has uneven cooking areas. Switched to a regular skillet and they came out perfectly. Crispity on the outside, incredibly light and airy on the inside. The tang from the buttermilk was noticeable but not overpowering. The blueberry syrup was a nice touch as well. I don't eat breakfast too often, so this was a nice treat.
