i did not read the reviews, but knew it needed way more bread than called for to even fill a 9x13, so used a whole loaf of challah (home made with part whole wheat. also, i only used 1/2 c. maple syrup instead of 3/4 and did not add the full amount of cinn/sugar on top. i can'
t stand overly sweet breakfasts; it's not a dessert, for crying outloud! plus, i added a couple tablespoons of orange liqueur. will try bourbon next time. with my modifications, i loved it!!!!!!! husband says make it without the lemon zest.

Definitely tasted great..once it was done! I used hawaiian sweet bread because the bakery didn't have any chala bread left, and apparently stuffed the dish too much. It took almost 2 hours to finally cook through. I just got done making it and plan on letting it sit all night to set. Besides the time it took to cook, this is a great recipe, and it tastes wonderful!

Disappointed :( Way too much liquid. It baked forever and still did not set. I should have read the reviews before I made this. I'm going to make it again using less milk & maple syrup, (much too rich for my taste, and add more bread. A few adjustments and it should be perfect!

I love this recipe... Did change it slightly with adding a little vanilla= I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could. Lacking the 1/2 a star because my hubs would prefer more of a crispy top, but for me, it's a 5 star dish. I would suggest small servings because it is very rich.

Excellent for brunch, when you want to enjoy and not be working in the kitchen. I substituted raisins for the blueberries and added 1 tsp of orange zest and 1 tbsp of pure vanilla extract. It took one hour to bake but WOW! One of my all time favorite breakfast/ brunch recipes.

Made this for Christmas Morning. Just be sure to mix the blueberries well into the mixture.

My familly loved it, but the first time I mixed it using just like the recipe called for it looked runny. I added another slice of chala and it came out great. I also let it rest for a few minutes before serving

I made this last night using the exact recipe (well, for some crunch, I added a small bag of sliced almonds. I left the prepared dish in the fridge overnight, so that we could have a luscious morning breakfast. I baked the dish for about 50 minutes, but it still had too much liquid. I would recommend using a whole loaf of Challah bread. You could also use the same amount of bread the recipe calls for, but use half the liquid. The flavor was amazing!!!!! I'll make this again using a whole loaf of bread. Mmmm yum! LOVE GIADA!! :o
