banana bread this looks like an esyrecipe to follow i'll have to try it item not reviewed by moderator and published
Made this recipe for the first time tonight. I really like how it made my entire house smell like banana cinnamon but the bread came out dry and a bit crumbly when cutting into slices. I also only used 1/2 tsp salt instead of the full tsp and I'd say to eliminate the salt altogether, it doesn't need it. item not reviewed by moderator and published
The reason the recipe calls for salt is that most recipes use the bananas when they are completely brown for baking. That is when their sugar content is the highest. That is why the recipe calls for salt.
item not reviewed by moderator and published
Made this for the 1st time tonight. I was looking for a banana bread recipe that just made 1 loaf. My family LOVED it! I made it exactly as recipe is written with the exception I did not add the salt. I did not have unsalted butter on hand, so I used the regular butter I had & eliminated adding the extra salt. Also I only used 1/2 tsp of cinnamon per some other reviews I read of 1 tsp being too much. I will def be making this recipe again in the future!

item not reviewed by moderator and published
I didn't like this compared to another recipe using brown sugar. This seems too starchy and cinnamony for banana bread. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I have made this recipe at least 5 times now and I am new to baking. But this a fool proof recipe which is simple and tasty. Its been a success every time I have made it. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My family loved it but it is little bit salty, will reduce salt to 1/2 tsp next time and use 3 large bananas item not reviewed by moderator and published
Delicious! I used unsalted butter and did not add any salt whatsoever. Baking soda and baking powder both contain sodium. Turned out delicious. I didn't have a third banana, but using just two extremely ripe ones and keeping everything else in recipe the same turned out amazing. Will make again for sure. Son asked why I hadn't put any nuts in though... item not reviewed by moderator and published
Will this work using salted butter and no actual salt? item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've made this banana bread dozens of times and it's the best! Sometimes I add mini chocolate chips, sometimes I make muffins, and today I added 2 T cocoa powder...yummy! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I love making this bread for my little girl... it is so good it doesn't even last a week. You defiantly have to make this. I didn't do any changes....perfect as is. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made this last week because I had over-riped bananas and it was a hit. My whole family loved it including my friends. It was moist. My husband doesn't usually like banana bread but he loved this one. He did asked me to lessen the salt next time though because it was a bit salty to his taste. I'm making it again today and will try to just put 1/4 teaspoon of salt as suggested by someone in the comments. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made muffins instead and they turned out fantastic! I only cooked them for 30 minutes and sprinkled the tops with sugar and cinnamon. They were moist and delicious. My family loves them! I definitely will save and use this recipe again!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Great recipe, very fast to mix. This does not need to be made up by hand as some people were saying, use a bowl and mixer for the whole thing. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've made this and my family loves it item not reviewed by moderator and published

This was so yummy! I made the recipe exactly as written. I made two batches and my husband is already asking for me to make it again. I did sprinkle choped walnuts to the top of one batch. It was great either way. item not reviewed by moderator and published
REALLY good! Very moist. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is the best banana bread recipe ever! I've made it dozens of times. I always have all the ingredients, it's simple fast and delicious, every time!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I make this, prep takes me about 20 min by hand, I love it! My family loves it, very easy and I always have all the ingredients handy! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I have never made banana bread or any other kind of bread from scratch for that matter. Looking for ideas for over ripe bananas, I decided to try this since I was familiar with the ingredients and it didn't look intimidating. I loved it. Not too salty and really moist in the middle. We enjoyed it so much I have made it twice in two days and added chocolate chips to one. I preferred splitting the batter into two pans to get more slices.
Happy cooking!

item not reviewed by moderator and published
Delicious and easy to make, had all the ingredients on hand! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I love this bread, it's delicious. I've made it a few times and I have to ask: Can anyone actually make it in 10 mins of prep time? Because prep time for me takes nearly an hour each time I've made it. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I went as per previous recommendations and used only 1/4 tsp salt. I also added chocolate chips. It turned out amazing and Everyone loved it! Excellent recipe! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I tripled this recipe and melted the butter completely before adding to sugar. Everyone talking about it being dry needs to try this. It came out amazing. Flavorful moist and golden brown crispy top. Best banana bread ever and my first one I ever made. And from now on my only recipe. Definitely printing for the future. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Really great fool-proof recipe. My husband - who is usually carb-a-phobic - begs for me to make this bread. The loaf disappears in record time. Its also a really easy kid pleaser to add to school lunch boxes. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made this"as is", and I thought it was too salty compared to the Banana Bread I remember my mother making. item not reviewed by moderator and published
too salty...if i make again i will cut out salt or reduce to 1/4 teaspoon item not reviewed by moderator and published
I loved it, but next time I think I will add an extra banana item not reviewed by moderator and published

Banana Bread is my pick. The app is great. No washing my hands a thousand times to get the next step in the recipe! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is a great recipe. I didn't have milk so I used water. I also substituted half of the granulated sugar with brown sugar. It baked to a beautiful brown and so yummy item not reviewed by moderator and published

It's great. Like a real bread. Not watery like other recipes. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is an excellent banana bread recipe. It's the only one I use, and will pass it on to my children. The batter is thick and makes for a dense loaf, but that is how quick breads are supposed to be. It comes out delicious every time. *I take the liberty of adding extra bananas and vanilla, on occasion, and have never had an issue. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I used coconut oil instead of butter and flax eggs in place of eggs. Threw these in a muffin tin and baked for 25 minutes. Delicious! item not reviewed by moderator and published
The first time I made this I followed the recipe exactly and it was really great. This time I did half granulated and half brown sugar, and added 1 t vanilla. I also used 4 bananas that were really ripe and omitted the milk. It came out amazing! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I did not add the cinnamon and added vanilla instead. It was excellent. the recipe is very dense but moist, which is how I like my banana bread. it is a very thick batter.
item not reviewed by moderator and published
did all the right things but noticed the ingredients when mixed did not come out to be pouring mixture. Could it have been my flour? Going to have to try this in the future again
item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very good! I had some bananas in the freezer I needed to use, and this recipe was just the thing. I used about half the sugar because I don't like it too sweet, and added a touch of vanilla, it turned out perfect, moist and fully cooked! item not reviewed by moderator and published
So easy, probably have the ingredients in your pantry, delicious and mine came out quite light! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made this banana bread last week n it was gone in a few days. I also added chocolate chips for something different. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My go-to recipe for simple and delicious banana bread! I always add an extra banana, some chopped nuts, and a few cranberries or raisins if I have them on hand. I've noticed the bread stays moist longer with the extra banana and the nuts add an extra crunchiness and flavor. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Love it it's Amazing

item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very good! Enough said. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Definitely what I know banana bread to be. So many options to tweak it with; i.e. ice cream, chocolate chips, walnuts, Nutella, etc. What a great base or even great on its own. Love it. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Made exactly as written with the addition of walnuts, and it was too sweet (should have known better when a recipe calls for a whole cup in one loaf). I always use very, very ripe bananas for bread so next time I will cut the sugar down to 2/3 cup instead of a whole cup. Otherwise a great and easy recipe (esp. if you make it all in one bowl to avoid extra dishes). I've made a lot of different banana bread recipes and I like this one the best despite it's super sweetness. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very good, Delicious! item not reviewed by moderator and published

Moist and delicious with just a slight crunch (I think it's due to the butter)! This is now my go to recipe for banana bread. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I hate that you have to rate this before posting. What if you have a question like I do? Has anyone tried to exchange the butter with coconut oil? I think it would be healthier and would love the subtle coconut taste but don't want to ruin a whole loaf if it doesn't work out. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Excellent recipe, we loved it! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This Recipe was hands down the best banana bread I have ever made/had!!! I did read reviews before making it, so I cut the sugar in half and I added just a pinch of salt since I used salted butter, I fluffed the flour and added 1 teaspoon of vanilla and my bread came out super moist and delicious!!!! Highly recommended!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was a hit! Best banana bread I've made. I added the vanilla that others have mentioned, used 4 large bananas and covered the top with chopped walnuts. I'm going to make more soon, just waiting for the bananas to get extra ripe. Yum! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Followed this recipe exactly and this bread was dry, and the flavor was bland. Ended up throwing it out. Do yourself a favor and move on from this recipe. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Easy, quick, and DELICIOUS! Simple ingredients- doesn't make a big mess and is easy to prep. This bread was moist, flavorful, and oh so easy. I'd make it again and again! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made two loaves, one exactly how the recipes states, the other I changed things up & like others suggested, I used four very ripe bananas instead of 3, also because I had salted butter I used much less salt than it called for as well as only 3/4 cup of organic sugar. The altered loaf was so much better, very moist and the flavor was amazing. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My first time ever making banana bread. This recipe was super easy and came out great! Very yummy, will def be using again. And very proud how good it turned out on my first try. :-) item not reviewed by moderator and published
Yummy! Made this banana bread for an office party. Everyone raved about it! I've made this with and without nuts; both ways, it's delicious! Now it's the only banana bread recipe I use. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Why do people say The recipe was great but I added this I did not add that if you add or take away Then It is not the same recipe MAKE THE BREAD FIRST TELL HOW IT IS then make it a second time and say how it was better or not I want to know About the recipe posted not your Gordon Ramsay impression I made it and it was good as is. I will keep this Recipe as a base and add to it a strawberry banana bread was good too item not reviewed by moderator and published
So moist and fluffy! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe is great! I made a few changes. I used whole wheat flour, unsweetened applesauce instead of butter, and I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract. I know better than to make too many changes at one time, but it turned out great! Flavorful, moist, and a little healthier. item not reviewed by moderator and published
A few tips for ALL baked goods that will have a huge impact on YOUR rating : 1) ALWAYS fluff up the flour BEFORE measuring. This makes a difference in actual amt. of flour used.(probably why most European measurements use weight rather than cup measurements). It is more CONSISTANT 2) invest just a few dollars in an oven thermometer. Ovens can be off by alot over time.leaving food either dry or under done.3) In this type of recipe, the sweetness depends alot on just how over ripe the bananas actually are. The blacker bananas are far sweeter than the speckled skinned bananas. So you can adjust your sugar a bit depending on color of banana & personal tastes. For any banana bread recipe, I find whipping the heck out of bananas & eggs makes a far better cosistancy. BUT once the dry ingredients are added I just stir to combine, making SURE there is no dry flour mixture in the bottom of the bowl.BUT then do NOT over mix ! This recipe needs 1/2 to 1t. Vanilla.added. Good otherwise ! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Extremely tasty and not complicated to make. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I love this banana bread! So moist and full of flavour. I do add chocolate chips to this recipe when I have them on hand, but it is delicious without them too. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've made a couple different recipes of banana bread, which were pretty good. However, this is the best ever! I love the hint of cinnamon (and I'm not a fan of cinnamon), it's moist, with a crunchy crust. Delish!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've tried a few banana bread recipes before, and this was the only case where it did NOT come out undercooked! Just enough cinnamon, and baking powder are the key! Love it making more for a bake sale this week! item not reviewed by moderator and published
My first banana bread and not bad at all! I don't have one of those fancy mixing machines so I used my handy dandy hand mixer and a spoon. I did add a little vanilla extract but everything else was the same. I think next time I will add an extra banana and some chocolate chips! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I have made this recipe 5 times in the last 2 month, every time my husband finishes the entire loaf in a day, I double the recipe and try to freeze one, however it never makes it! BEST Bannana Bread recipe ever! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Has anyone tried a coconut flour or any healthier flour? Rated a 5 because with all the great reviews, I have high hope for me (I'm not a baker). item not reviewed by moderator and published
Delicious, moist, flavorful...I added walnuts, an extra banana, chocolate chips and used pumpkin flavored coffee creamer (was out of milk). None of the subs or adds affected the outcome. Made 2 times this week so far and both times was devoured the same day by my family. This is now my go to recipe for banana bread. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've been looking for a banana bread recipe that wasn't overly sweet or greasy. I finally found perfection! Typically I would not review a recipe that I did not follow to a T, but my substitution would not change the outcome of a less sweet or greasy outcome. I found I did not have skim milk but did have some coffee left from breakfast which I used in its place. I have another recipe for a coffee cake that uses coffee instead of milk, which is what gave me the idea. The banana bread did not take on any coffee flavor but it added the moistness needed for mixing. Thought I would put that suggestion out there for when a substitution is needed. item not reviewed by moderator and published
It is delicious! So what changes did I make (like everybody ;-)? I used 4 bananas, added 1 tea of nutmeg and 1 cup chopped pecans. Also, I had about a tablespoon of creme fraiche left and used that instead of the milk. I divided the batter and used two loaf pans-they came out perfect in about 1 hr. This is a recipe that can be 'customized', so enjoy! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I loved this recipe!! I added a few chocolate chips and nuts and it was so moist and wonderful. And it was easy peasy to make item not reviewed by moderator and published

Good basic recipe. I added nutella to a portion of the mix and marbled it in. I also added a teaspoon of sour cream for extra moisture. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Amazing! We added some hershey kisses to the mix and an extra banana and it was so delicious. The cake was moist and just the right amount of sweetness! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Holy Smokes! This is FANTASTIC! I was so excited to have all the ingredients that I blew it a couple of ways and it still came out fabulous! I didn't have unsalted butter and used the regular stuff. I mixed the cinnamon with the dry ingredients...oh well! This bread is perfection! My husband wanted to kiss me good night, and I told him "Wait until you taste this bread so you can give me the kiss I deserve!" He agrees...this is awesome. No butter, no cream cheese, no ice cream...just banana awesomeness! I think I want to try a healthy version with half whole-wheat flour and applesauce instead of butter...thankfully I don't have to think about that now! YUM! item not reviewed by moderator and published

Amazing recipe, my family LOVES this bread and I made it for my best friend's family too where it was also a hit and they now make it as well. Very moist and full of flavor! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I thought this was a very tasty banana bread. The first batch (original recipe) was a little drier than I anticipated but I made a second batch with extra butter and egg to make it more moist. It turned out great! I shared the first loaf with my family and we finished it a day and the second loaf we are still working on. It is great! item not reviewed by moderator and published

This is the best banana bread I have made. It was very moist and flavorful! I changed a few things: the cinnamon to 1/2 teaspoon, I added 1 more banana, some vanilla and a handful of chopped walnuts. So yummy, everyone loved it. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Delightful. Added peanut butter, vanilla, and extra cinnamon. Delish. So fluffy item not reviewed by moderator and published
This banana bread is the bomb!! It was simple to make and came out so moist. After reading a few reviews, I used four very ripe bananas, two teaspoons of vanilla flavoring, and added pecans. The loaves turned out fabulous!!! This will be my "go to" recipe for banana bread!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
A very good recipe! I add an extra tbsp of milk and vanilla, and it always comes out great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is that the size of the pan recommended plus the cook time gives it a pretty thick, albeit great tasting, crust that doesn't tend to soften. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Good stuff!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Yes, just adjust the salt accordingly and it will be just as good. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Same here. There is no way that anyone could prep all this in 10 minutes. The prep time listed is clearly a misprint and should be corrected. item not reviewed by moderator and published

I cut half the sugar, and added the vanilla and that was great! Instead of one tsp. of cinnamon, I used 3/4 tsp. cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp of nutmeg. I also used a 13x9 pan and the baking time was just about one hour. Thanks! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Oh no, so sorry that it didn't work out for you. I made it and it was perfect. Give it another try and check out the other reviews to see if you can make a couple of changes. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I agree with you about raters saying how wonderful the recipe is, give it 5 stars, but then proceed with telling you how to make it better. I'm fine with their hints on how to improve the recipe, but then they should give a rating of 4 stars, I think. Five stars should mean the recipe is excellent as is. item not reviewed by moderator and published
BTW I have also made this with whole wheat flour in varied amounts. IMO wheat is healthier, but has a " eat this becaue it is good for you taste" So I limit whole wheat flour to no more than a 1/2 C. substitution.Instead I like all unbleached flour, no whole wheat flour,; then add chopped walnuts. That way I still get more fiber, some heart heathy benifits, and stll tastes like a treat.. just my opinion after testing several versions item not reviewed by moderator and published
Some people have used whole wheat flour instead of AP. They say it turned out just fine. item not reviewed by moderator and published

Sorry for the review frustration. I would just like to get a review on the original recipe for once. I modify recipes either from experience or the lack of ingredients but I don't review my own recipe until I make the original. Moreover, I never really figured out what three bananas should weigh. Bananas vary in size. I tend to go with more banana. This recipe requires less butter and very little mixing of the flour. The resulting texture is perfect and delicious. One of the best. item not reviewed by moderator and published
