Fabulous! I had a cocktail party and these were all gobbled up in the first 15 minutes. I planned on 2 shrimp per person but next time I have to plan on 6 per person. Agree with previous reviewers 1 partially pre-cook the bacon before wrapping 2 hard to get the cheese and basil to stick to the bacon--I will try homemade pesto sauce next time 3 presoak the toothpicks in water. This recipe definitely a keeper. My party was a few days ago and I served 4 other appetizers but my guests are still raving about this one.

This recipe s outstanding!!! Saw it mentioned on BBQ Pitmasters when they visited Chris Lilly at at 'Bob Gibsons' ...Perfect gourmet BBQ appetizer. 2 tricks... 1.Gently cook the bacon to get it started but keep it pliable and 2. Butterfly the shrimp all the way to make it easier to stuff them with basil mixture..... This is a must try... Thx Chris!!

First off - I have NEVER taken the time to review anything on line. BUT, this recipe is SO AMAZING that I could not let another day go by and not write a review. I first prepared it when it appeared in one of the first "Food Network" magazines a couple of years ago. They asked for it again today, and it took me hours to find the recipe on line, but YEA!! We will be oohing and ahhing over this dish tonight! PLEASE try this, you will be hooked. THERE IS ONE VERY IMPORTANT POINT about the recipe however that you need to know....I have NEVER been able to stuff the basil mixture into the back of the shrimp - no way!I guess this might work if you use HUGE shrimp or prawns? So, I simply roll the shrimp in this wonderful mixture, and wrap the shrimp with some half-cooked bacon, and then grill. Then, follow the directions about using the GREATEST sauce ever for carmelizing the little treasures and WOW!!!!! Truly amazing!!!!! Thank you again, Chris Lilly!!!!
