I followed the recipe with the exception of the figs. The muffins were delicious and baked perfectly in the oven. I had a group over for brunch and they loved the muffins. The fresh cranberries really make the muffin delicious. Each time you bite into the muffin you get a great balance of sweet with some tart from the fresh cranberries.

These came out soo delicious. More appropriate for fall however. Mary - maybe use 3 large eggs to substitute for 2 extra large eggs called by the recipe.

I gave this recipe five stars because the flavor is sooo good. I am an experienced baker but somehow the tops of these muffins were not high but very flat, spreading into each other. I checked everything to make sure I didn't miss something. The only thing I did differently was to use slightly sour milk, large eggs and dried cherries instead of figs. Did anyone else have this problem?

I made these last night. They were very easy to put together. I used a large spring-loaded scoop and got 24 nice sized muffins. I substitued walnuts for the hazelnuts and omitted the figs. They were moist throughout and had a nice crispy top. I will definitely make these again and again. Thanks Ina for another fabulous recipe!

These muffins are wonderful for holiday parties and a gread addition to holiday gift baskets. It was a bit difficult to find the calimyrna figs but I eventually found them at a farmers market, and they are a bit expensive. I will use this basic recipe throught the year and try different fruit and nuts, but for the holidays I will definitely use fresh cranberries and hazelnuts. Thanks Ina!

These were very easy to put together and came out fantastic. I took these to a meeting, and half way through the meeting everyone stopped talking and said, "wow, these muffins are really good"!! That was the best compliment. I made them exactly as written.

These were really simple to make. I don't like nuts and only had dried cranberries and no figs but they were still wonderful. I put in some fiber cereal because I felt a little guilty with all of the butter. I'll for sure be making these again.

My husband and I love these muffins. I use walnuts instead of hazelnuts but other than that, no substitutions are needed!

These muffins are a lot of work, but the effort was well worth it. I added orange zest, but the flavor really didn't show up in the finished product. Regardless we all thoroughly enjoyed the muffins and will make them again. The tartness of the cranberries against the sweetness of the sugar and figs is a great counterbalance. The roasted nuts added just the right texture
