Ingredients
- 3 (28-ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes
- 1 (3 1/2-ounce) can green chiles, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 2 teaspoons Susie Q's Santa Maria Seasoning, recipe follows
- 2 to 3 drops hot sauce (recommended: Tabasco sauce)
Directions
In a bowl, mix together all ingredients, making sure to break up the tomatoes to your desired consistency. Chill for at least 30 minutes and then serve with your favorite chips.
Susie Q's Santa Maria Seasoning:
Salt
Black pepper
Garlic powder
Parsley, minced
Sugar
Blend all ingredients, to taste, together in a small bowl. Use to season your salsa.

I too live in the area and have dined at the Far Western many times. The salsa is usually served with their poquito beans and used as topping on steak (by me anyway. I would certainly reduce the amount of tomatos from three cans to one can. Celantro would ruin the recipe - don't add.

Being from that area originally, my husband and I looked forward to visiting the Far Western Tavern for dinner. We LOVEDthe salsa, and I am very happy to have this recipe to make, will be a little bit of the past with us now.
