    Highly recommend using less-to-no matzo meal; absolutely no eggs... Served as side dish with pork chops is an oxymoron :}

    Good.......but no Jewish woman making these would ever add flour if needed. Matzo Meal is the addition of choice. The onion is always grated never diced. Served with apple sauce, these are addicting!

    These were absolutely delicious and not greasy at all! Highly recommend as a side dish with pork chops.

    This was the perfwct balance of ingredients. I added about 4Tbls of rendered chicken fay to the oil for that authentic flavor. They tasted just as I recall at Grandma's house, when I was young!

    This was my first try at making latkes, and I've never even eaten latkes before, but these were super tasty! I think they may become a regular item around our mostly vegetarian household. Thanks Linda!

    I have had many a latke, and this recipe is true to the traditional yummy latke of yesteryear. I imagine you could also add herbs to it for a slight variation, i.e. dill, thyme, parsley. For the purist, I would leave it as is. I find shallots are too mild for a latke. Loved this recipe!

    These tasted exactly like I wanted them to. Brought me back to my childhood immediately! Make sure to press all the liquid out as you form the pancakes, and keep them smaller than you think you need. I use a cast-iron skillet, and I serve them with chunky applesauce and sour cream into which I've mixed a few tablespoons of chopped scallions. For heaven's sake, don't mix bacon pieces in as suggested below. I can't imagine anything that could more thoroughly destroy the integrity of the dish.
