This tasted pretty good. I had some fresh spinach on hand that I wanted to use, so I replaced the lettuce with that. It definitely was better tasting after the ingredients were refrigerated together overnight, but the the spinach had wilted from sitting with the tomatoes. Next time, I will skip the thyme, add 1/2 cup more of mayo, and wait to add the lettuce until the next day after the rest of the ingredients refrigerate overnight.

I made this as light on the sodium as I could by eliminating the use of the kosher salt and cooking my pasta without salt. The bacon is the big sodium offender in this recipe. So I also used about half of the bacon the recipe called for, and chose a low sodium bacon (yes there really is one, and didn't warm the tomatoes etc in the bacon grease. As near as I can tell I reduced the sodium count by over 60%. I also used lower fat sour cream. Its not exactly a figure friendly salad, but it is very tasty and very different.

I made this using low fat sour cream and light mayo. I thought it was pretty good, but a little bit dry.

Looked great - sounded easy but YIKES - 960 calories per serving?
Even if serving 8, that's a lot of calories. Sorry, but I won't be fixing this.

To the people on here that posted they would not make it because it is unhealthy. That is fine, don't make it. There are lots of healthy alternatives... Please don't post about something you haven't or won't try. This review section is for rating recipes that you have tried. Please do not prosthelytize to EVERYONE. We all have a choice and should be given such without being scrutinized by other's. BTW You could even make a low-fat "healthier" version of this if you wanted to by using low fat mayo, and proscuitto.

I was looking for a different type of Pasta salad to make and came across this one. I changed it up a little bit. I did not add the thyme as it is not one of my favorites and I did not add the 3 TBLSP of bacon drippings, figuring you have enough oil in the mayo and almost a pound of bacon in the recipe to begin with. Went without the "L" and didn't feel I was missing anything. Served it for some of my neighbors and everyone loved it! It turned out delicious!

It's annoying to see the "fat police" at it again ... don't WORRY about it, already! This was a very good, tasty recipe. My BF and I loved it. I'll be making it again for a BBQ this weekend. I'll be trying another reviewer's idea, which is to add a little green (herbs and seasonings to the mayo/sour cream mix for additional flavor. I also didn't cook the tomatoes - just halved sweet little grape tomatoes and tossed them in at the end. This is a must-try recipe - a good foundation to which you can add your own touches.
