Delicious & easy! Happy to find a lightened up version of a classic southern dish.
I used fat free half and half for the gravy, was very liberal with the pepper and added a bit of Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
The husband loved it, ate the left overs for breakfast & came home a few days later with a package of cube steak "hinting" for me to make it again.

This is very good. It isn't your regular chicken fried steak, but for a healthier version it does work. I doubled the gravy as there wasn't enough and definitely liked the hot sauce in the egg mixture. It does bake up crunchy which is what I was worried about. Went great with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Quick, easy, with none of the mess of fried chicken fried steak.

This was fabulous, tho I must say I tweaked it quite a bit. Used chicken tenders instead of beef; substituted 1 cup of canned crispy onion rings (the kind you use for green bean casserole for 1 cup of the cornflakes (just because I had them on hand used spray olive oil; put some sriracha in the egg mix; turned them over half-way through cooking. Used chicken stock in the gravy and LOTS of pepper & some thyme. Best "chicken-fried chicken" we've ever had. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and the bottle of sriracha on the table for extra kick.

This was so quick and easy. Really tasty. Love the little kick of hot sauce.
Can't wait to make this for my father-in-law!

The dish is quite flavorful, especially for a lighter recipe. The steak had a nice crunch, which doesn't always happen when I "fry" in the oven. Also, initially I was unsure about my gravy, but looks can be deceiving - it was delicious! The only item I didn't use in this recipe was the hot sauce (and only because I didn't have any on hand. This is an easy recipe to follow, and a tasty dish to enjoy!

My husband loves chicken fried steak so I wasn't sure if he would go for this. His comment was "You can make this again." High praise indeed if you knew him. It's easy, and tastes great .The gravy is very very good. This will definitely go into the rotation.

I have never had chicken fried steak before, but my husband enjoys it, so I tried this recipe after seeing it in Food Network Magazine, The recipe was very simple and quick. The steak was crunchy on the outside and tender inside. We couldn't believe the sauce was fat free! I wish I had added a little more hot sauce to the recipe, but I guess I was a little cautious for the first try. We will be making this again.
