WOW!!!! My husband bought the ingredients for this recipe, and I thought he was crazy, wanting to pickle shrimp. This was amazing, and will be making it all the time. Thank you for the wonderful recipe.

I made the pickled shrimp, sans chicken broth, and it was treat! However, I would'nt cook for more than one minute because aftering pouring the liquid ovet the shrimp, it ended up making them a bit tough, but VERY tasty. I liked the brine mixture so much that I made more and poured it over a dozen hard cooked eggs, and after two days in the fridge, I couldn't resist, and they were awesome! Give it a try1

Just to add my viewpiont to the rest. I think that Bobby clearly said DILL WEED. There was no mention of chix broth in the TV demo. Just the homemade veg stock. I appreciate all the tweeks and will be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as mine will not be that nice and big!

I never did here Paula say anything about chicken stock in the shrimp dish, I believe that it was only used in the Hoppin John salad on this show. The water was the base for the stock for the shrimp recipe.. At least that is how I saw it.

Wow--it seems we're all either having hearing problems or this recipe doesn't exactly match what was done on the show. I remember Bobby enunciating dill SEED because I thought to myself, "I know I have dill weed, but not sure about the seed." What did everybody else use? Weed or seed? And what's the final conclusion about the chicken broth? Add it or not?

Perfect little hostess gift. Delicious and unique. But what about that cup of chicken stock, Paula? I just added it into the cooled liquid before I added the shrimp. Oh, boy!

This shrimp looked so tasty when I watched the show that I just had to have the recipe. However, I could've sworn that at least a portion of the cooking liquid was chicken stock/broth. In fact, I seem to remember Paula pointing that out especially. Am I crazy or just dreaming?

I'll be trying it soon. Maybe replacing some of the water with chicken stock.

I loved this recipe for several reasons. First, the cooking liquid makes the shrimp so flavourful. I believe I'll always do my cocktail shrimp this way from now on. Secondly, it was very easy and delicious. I only brought the shrimp to a boil and then left them on for 1 min -- NOT 8. That seems tooooo long to me. Then when you add them to the marinade sauce, they seem to "cook" a little longer -- I found them a little tough the next day when I put them on my salad. What do you think? With these little tweaks, Bobby -- you have a winner here. Thank you

Recipe said to store in refrigerator for 3 days. Is that the length of time that it is safe to serve or is that the time needed to marinate?

I watched the show on saturday and thought , this is my mamma's recipe.
Made it on sunday and minus a few ingredients ( crushed red pepper this is
a perfect pickled shrimp . I personally love this on a spring salad.
    Thanks Bobby
