I love this recipe! A regular mojito seems so plain now! I have tweaked the ingredients a tad to Coconut Rum instead of Coconut milk which is hard to find in Northeast Ohio. This also increases the alcohol content which is a plus!

I made this mojito for my dinner club and it was a hit. The extra flavor of the ginger and basil was a good twist on a traditional mojito and went well with our Asian themed dinner. I did leave off the coconut milk as it didn't look appetizing on top of the drink. Other than that, it was great.

The most unusual Mojito I've had, pretty good though!

Regular basil works, too. I really liked the updated taste of the basil and ginger. And, yes, he also used pineapple on TV. Terrific summer drink!

The Drink on the show WON the competion and he off the cuff named it The Throw Down at the Pure. It included pineapple so I hope they throw it up on the website...JB

I thought the drink he made on the show had pineapple in it and he first called it a deconstructed pina colada in the test kitchen.

I HAVE BEEN MAKING MOJITOS FOR YEARS, AND HAVE NEVER PUT COCONUT MILK IN THEM! I LOVE MOJITOS, BUT THIS RECIPE IS NOT A MOJITO, IT IS A MOJITO INSPIRED DRINK, AT BEST. HERE'S MY RECIPE FOR A PITCHER OF MOJITOS:
    4 WHOLE LIMES
    3 TBSP SUGAR
    HAND FULL OF MINT
    LITER CLUB SODA
RUM - TO PREFERENCE, I LIKE MINE STRONG!
    ICE
    1. SQUEEZE LIMES IN PITCHER, ADD SUGAR AND MINT - USE THE LIME JUICE TO DISSOLVE THE SUGAR AND PULVERIZE MINT.
    2. FILL PITCHER WITH ICE
    3. ADD RUM, TO TASTE, 6 SHOTS? 7 OR 5 DOES NOT MATTER, ADD MORE IF YOU LIKE!
    4. ADD LITER OF CLUB SODA AND SQUEEZED LIME RINDS (EITHER INTO THE PITCHER FOR EXTRA LIMINESS, OR TO INDIVIDUAL GLASSES
    5. ENJOY

I had to try this with an open mind, as I am a HUGE fan of the classic Mojito.

This version is very smooth, and offers an interesting smooth, hint of pina colada flavor to the mojito. Finding the basil was a pain in the *** though.
