The rub is a party in your mouth. I didn't have all the specified chiles so I substituted some. Since I cooked the chicken in the oven, I added some smoked paprika & chipotle. Didn't make the sauce instead used bottled BBQ sauce(Bull's Eye & added bourbon. The bourbon doctored sauce was so good I don't know when I'll be tempted to make my own. Will be making the rub again with the specific chiles & expect it to be great.

Excellent flavors. Rub - great flavor and this recipe makes enough to last a while. I could not find real pasilla peppers and adding the chile de arbol would add too much heat for my family's taste but not mine. BBQ sauce - again I enjoyed the flavor and the consistency works very well for me. The sauce is sweet and having a southwestern profile is a nice break from traditional southeastern BBQ sauces. I am grilling again tonight!

    Good, but not great.

Chicken- juicy. Don't really need the buttermilk marinade as it doesn't crisp up the skin. I would do without that and just use chicken thighs, bone and skin on.

SIxteen spice- is okay. Too much cinnamon maybe use a tablespoon less. all other spices were good (not outstanding

BBQ sauce- add 1/4 cup bourbon to your favorite bbq sauce and voila! DIdn't care for his sauce, i find the ancho chili powder to give it a chalk/grainy taste. It's okay, not work the work for sure.

I am rating the spice rub I used on a chicken I smoked. I did not have access to the special chili powders, so I used regular. Normally not fond of fennel at all, or cinnamon in my savory dishes, but it was still ok. I have enough left over for another dish! I personally think I would leave out the fennel and cinnamon next time, or at least cut back on the quantities of each.

Recipe made as written. I didn't do a buttermilk soak but...chicken was still juicy. The rub made about 2 cups so way more than enough for the next go around. I had about 3+ lbs chicken (2 huge 1 lb breasts and 4 thighs. Rubbed and let it sit overnight. When I tasted the bourbon bbq sauce I thought it was a bit mild (almost boring but paired with the chicken was fabulous! The bbq sauce was about 3 cups just FYI.

I made both Bobby's chicken and potato salad as well as the Sargeant's for Father's Day dinner. They were all great. We had seven people for dinner, and there were no clear winners. Slight edge to Bobby's chicken and the Sgt's potato salad.

I didn't make this yet but plan to when someone tells me what to do with the buttermilk and spice rub. It's not on the recipe!

What a great show, Bobby! But then, they're all great! Super sauce! Yum-yum.

An easy way to get the Mustard Chicken recipe is to go to Yahoo and type in: <The Pentagon Channel's Grill Sergeant To Appear On "Throwdown!" (recipes added>

Bobby Flay went off the charts with this sauce! I thought my sauce was jammin' but boy have I been out done. This sauce reminds me of the way I like my women...SWEET and HOT!!!
