Easy recipe, quick to put together and easy to double if needed. Really cold butter works great, and the buscuits were light and moist.

I just noticed a few other reviewers made the same mistake I did. This recipe calls for half a cup buttermilk & half a cup heavy cream. In the assembly directions you are directed to add "the buttermilk." In a separate direction you brush the biscuit tops with heavy cream before placing in the oven. Although I thought they called for too much cream to brush on, I trusted that the dough should be dry until I took 7 heavy, tasteless rocks from the oven 40 minutes later (they didn't brown. The squirrels that live in the tree outside my door have yet to try them! I've now learned to read the reviews before cooking something for the first time. Still not sure if the cream was meant to be mixed into the dough or not, but I'm trying Alton Brown's recipe instead!

I was hoping I wouldn't like them considering how fatening they are. But they were great!

I was just looking for a basic buttermilk biscuit recipe so I left out the pepper and honey. 1/2 cup of buttermilk is not enough! The dough would not come together so I ended up over working it and they were dry and flat. I even added a little extra buttermilk. I think I'll go back to my usual drop biscuits. Sorry Bobby.

With a little modification here and there this is an easy recipe to work from. I made dropped biscuits and had such a nice unfinished texture. I used salted butter and cut the salt portion in half and left out the pepper. Recipe made 8 large dropped biscuits.

These biscuits were one of the best I've ever had. My husband who doesn't like biscuits ate 4 and asked why I didn't make more. Yay!

Excellent recipe. The directions neglect to mention adding the 1/2 cup of cream; add that with the buttermilk. Use extra buttermilk or cream to wash biscuits before baking. To make these biscuits very flaky and rise very high, keep the cold butter in larger pieces and roll and fold the dough about 6 times, as if you were making blitz puff pastry. Then cut and bake--they will rise straight up and be very light and flaky.

I never made biscuits before and seen Bobby Flay make these for his wife and thoughtI'd try them. What a wonderful surprise at how simple and easy they were to make. They were very tender moist and awesome with honey (not that they needed anyit just made them more yummy. No more canned biscuits for me or my family in my house, and here's the real kicker I never really cared for them because they always had a odd bisquick taste and dry lotsa of milk texture. Thanks for this recipe and I did put pepper like suggested and liked them that way also. I will make these alot they are excellent in my book.
