I did add 1/4 more white sugar the second time I made it, we thought the original recipe needed a bit more sugar. Make sure you bananas are very, very ripe. Yummy!!

I made this pie for our dessert on Easter and it was amazing! By far the best banana cream pie I have ever eaten. The hazelnut brittle on top added something really special. I took the advice of another reviewer and removed the hazelnut skins by soaking the nuts in water with baking soda for several minutes. That made a huge difference in my ability to actually remove the skins. Thanks, Bobby, for another great recipe.

The recipe as written makes enough filling for two tarts (They aren't pies. Given the amount of cornstarch and egg yolks, is the gelatin necessary at all? I used it (and, in fact, followed the recipe exactly, but I think the texture with it is gummy, even after letting the custard chill, then beating and lightning it with cream as per the directions.

I was disappointed for the amount of work it required--and that is very unusual for me with a Bobby Flay recipe.

I want to make this. It sounds delicious. But the directions are off. It doesn't even mention layering it with bananas! Wished I taped the show!

This is the best pie I have ever had, ever - hands down. That said, it took me THREE days to make!! They should change the time to make this pie, because the 1hr is a blatent lie. It might take 1hr to assemble. It even takes longer than 1hr to cook because you have to make the shell seperately. The whole thing is heavenly, the bananas, the whipped cream is just right for the sweetness of the crunchy topping. I will definitely make this again, when I have a long weekend to do it!

Dear Martha C.... it is a dough mixture. All you need to do is use a few spinkles of flour while kneeding.... ;0 Hope that helps!! Lots of steps and overwhelming the first time, but the second time its much easier! AND TASTE DELICIOUS!!!!!! Thanks Mr. Flay

Confused... how can you be adding 1 1/4 cups (10.5 oz of dry ingredients (flour to 1/2 cup wet and not have it sticky? It was stuck to everything. Very frustrating after watching the show.
