I never liked dumplings until I made this recipe. I made the dumplings small and followed the recipe exactly. It was easy and the dumplings were light, delicious, and blend in with the soup broth in your mouth. This soup was easy to make and my family loved it. I didnt add the barley since I didnt have time and the soup was great. The dumplings were more than enough.

This soup was very good. I made a couple of changes though I only put in 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg for the dumplings and I used carrots instead of green beans. The flavor was good and the dumplings were excellent.

. The barley kept this soup from being 5 stars. The texture is very unpleasant; being very chewy and sort of rough. I think I will also add a cup of peas or diced carrots next time. I liked the carrots I put in on this time, but they were too big.

Yum! Excellent dumplings!!! I didn't use the soup recipe, as I make a darn good chicken soup. I searched for a dumpling recipe and this didn't disappoint. They are light, tender, and delicious! I only used 1/4 tsp of nutmeg, as I'm not a big fan, and I really couldn't taste it at all. I think next time, I'll use garlic salt to add just a little bit of flavor. Thanks Bobby!

The best chicken dumplings ever! They weren't too dry or doughy in my opinion. My family keeps requesting chicken dumpling soup now! :

I too loved the nutmeg in the dumplings, but they were very soft, not enough doughy texture, but would make again with another dumpling recipe.

I've been looking for a really good dumpling recipe and this one was really good. Next time I make it I'll cut the barley in half and add more chicken broth. It was more like a stew than a soup. Also the dumplings were a little too soft so I'm going to find another recipe for those. But my entire family loved the soup so we will be making it again.

Awesome Recipe. I used 8 cups chicken stock and instead of barley I used two cups of egg noodles. I used this recipe one other time to make beef barley dumpling soup. You substitute left over beef and use beef stock in stead of chicken and chicken stock.

I always come back to this recipe primarily for the glorious "DUMPLINGS." These are as sweet as Bobby Flays baby face. : I did not use the barley because it's not a regular around the house staple for me. I used dry spices instead of fresh because I used what I had. You get the just of how awesome this recipe would be if made by the man himself. Stirs some ideas and no matter what your pick on soup style the dumplings are always a wonderful compliment for any chicken and dumpling recipe. Thanks for sharing.

I had to add extra liquid and even then I didn't really have a lot of liquid for the dumplings to swim in but it was super yummy. I also left out the green beans because my husband isn't a fan of them. Overall, the soup was as good as any restaurants.
