Another RR classic. This recipe was fast and easy, even on the first time. Tastes great!

I thought the soup itself was fantastic. I did add more celery and one more carrot. Next time I make it I will also omit the pearl barley and green beans which didn't add that much to it and they were a little tough. I was dissapointed with the nutmeg in the dumplings because it gave them a strange flavor. I'll omit that next time too. Also, no mention of covering pot while dumplings cooked so finally I covered it and they puffed up better. Next time I'll cover it as soon as I put dumplings in. Otherwise, great recipe.

The flavor of this recipe was great and the dumplings were good, too. I did not care for the barley addition at all and I wish I would have just left it out. Not easy to get tender enough to taste good in this recipe. Also, next time I will leave out the fresh green beans. Even after all that simmering, they still didn't get tender enough. I will make it again without the barly and greenbeans and I will just add more celery!

The soup was great which isn't too far from awesome. It smells well. It taste well. The only problem I encountered was the pearled barley and dumpling were mushy.

I folled this recipe to the best that I could. I didn't add barley, celery salt, or bay leaves. What I did add was a can of reg cut geenbeans (didn't have frozen and that worked great. I also reserved a few tablespoons of the chicken broth and mixed it with a little flour and then added it to the soup and that worked out GREAT. All in all, even with my few changes, this recipe is still wonderfull, and my kids just loved it.
