I agree, too many spices. I stuck with just the Paprika, coffee, brown sugar, S&P. Sometimes less is more!

Did it on the barbecue and enjoyed it!

Grind the coffee very fine and use your taste buds to adjust the amounts of sugar and salt in the mix needed to counter any bitterness.

It's very spicy, like the recipe says, only do one side of the meat.

I've got to say that I usually enjoy Bobby Flay's recipes. I agree with ntegg to say that it definetly delivered some taste. The meat was moist and tender. The only problem: neither my wife nor I liked it. We still ate it, but there was too much paprika and coffee. Maybe it was the wrong kind of paprika or the wrong type of coffee... I don't know. One thing I know: don't take it badly, but we'll not do it again. Sorry!

Great recipe. My family did not want to try it because of the rub, now this is their favorite rib eye recipe. yes it does smoke up the house a bit.

This was not good. The coffee got a burnt flavor to it, although the meat was definitely not overcooked. It was edible, but definitely not something I would do again.

We were unprepared to have it smoke as much as it did but the rub really delivered on taste. It added a lot of texture to the meat retained the moisture. It was very good and complimented the steak well. Definitely a recommended rub!

Excellent. We made this for Valentine's dinner. We did mix up the chilies some, but great combo - chilies and coffee! The leftovers made for some great hash to go with eggs and tortillas the next day!

Great steak! I made it for Valentine's day for my family. For those of you who are wondering (like I was,if it tastes like coffee...the answer is, No. Being the cook, I knew it had coffee in it so I was able to detect it but for someone who does not know there is coffee in it... they will not know. I didn't tell my husband, father-in-law, or kids what it was seasoned with until afterward. No one had any idea- they just loved the steak. The coffee mixed with the other seasonings just gives the steak a deep, earthy flavor or what I think of as "a man's steak." Really good. I didn't use the chili de arbol just because the rest of my family can't handle spicy stuff like I can. I used less chili powder than it said also. However, if I were making it just for myself, I'd put it all in just as the recipe says. Bottom line, its a great steak recipe & I like the fact that I didn't have to fire up the grill to eat a great steak!
