The rub for this burger is great. My family fell in love and it's all the guys ever request now! It has a good flavor and is a nice change from the traditional burger with some salt and pepper seasoning.

traditional texas burgers are all about the flavor of the meat and we don't put coleslaw on the burger. thats an east coast thing.

The spices on the meat were really tasty and we'd agree not too hot. A great combo. Next time I'll reduce the sauce on the slaw as what I made was too mushy. My guys all liked the dill pickles, but I'm a bread and butter pickle fan and thought they were good also.

These are not your run of the mill hamburgers. The kids, aged 11 - 17, requested burgers; I wanted something a bit different and these burgers fit the bill perfectly. I was a bit concerned at first that they may pack in too much heat with the variety of peppers used, however no one in the review section commented on them being too spicy so I made the recipe just as written. The end product has a very so slight bite; nothing that would require a chaser to cool. They are DELICIOUS and everyone agreed that we should have them again... Soon !-

I'm not one for putting cloe slaw on a burger but the flavors that the BBQ and slaw lend to the hamburger are incredible. My wife doesn't particlarly care for hamburgers but she has asked me to make these twice since the first time that I made them. The rub is great with just the right amount of bite.

I had all the ingredients because I'm a chili lover and was really excited to try these. I thought they turned out really tasty. I'm a big fan of coleslaw and pickles especially on Poboys. This slaw recipe is good. The sauce is pretty good and you will have LOTS left over, but I thought it was redundant with the rub. And it's a lot of work. If I make these again I'd skip the rub. Don't get me wrong, I like rubs, this one just seemed to be overpowered by the sauce. I might try them again with either just the sauce or just the rub. Definitely use a whole wheat or multigrain roll for a little nutty flavor in the bun. A standard bun gets mushy with all that liquid from the pickles and the slaw. Also, when you calculate the cost of the spices in these it comes to about $15 before the other ingredients.
