I saw Bobby make this recipe, and I was really excited to make it. I had never had figs before, and his presentation really made me want to expand my horizons.

My lack of fig experience might be the issue here: I truly hated the finished product. I followed the recipe exactly, and to me the figs tasted like squash ... not a good flavor with chocolate or ricotta and molassas. My husband and I tried these and ended up throwing the whole plate away. I used fresh mission figs from Fresh Market, so I don't think they were bad. To me, the figs just didn't go with the toppings (though I will say that the toppings themselves were good.

It was fun to make anyway. In the future, I think I'll stick to grilling peaches.

I would have never put these ingredients together on my own. But, it was a really good starter.
