Take a chilled martini glass and add a dash of vermouth. Swirl vermouth around and pour it out. In a separate mixing glass full of ice, put gin. Stir it with a bar spoon and strain into the chilled martini glass and garnish with a fresh olive.
Jim is right on track for a fine classic dry martini. We at the Martini Institute suggest a little more vermouth – but less than a teaspoon. Go to MartinInstitue-dot-com for mixology, favorite gins and vermouths, the history of gin and the martini, and more. Cheers!
