WOW! Made many a 'country' bread pudding, but this is outstanding. Even hubby liked it! Left off the blackberry topping but did use the lemon whipped cream - subtle flavor, but just right with the bread pudding. Thank You Bobby Flay.

    1. Both the HGTV and Food Network recipes neglected to add the tablespoon of lemon juice with the vanilla.

    2. The second 1/4 cup of sugar should be tossed with the blackberries.

    3. HGTV omitted saying that the pudding should be topped with the macerated berries before serving.

    4. Both recipes DO indicate a 325 degree oven.

Using brioche and fresh blackberries is essential. If you can't find brioche, Ina Garten has a simple recipe for it. Mixing orange and lemon makes a flavor similar to Meyer lemon.
I know that the recipe was inaccurate, but I hope that won't keep people from trying this. It is a "to die for" bread pudding.

This is the best lemon recipe yet. I added extra Meyer Lemons and used sweet french bread. Very easy to make and the whole family loved it!

I first looked this recipe up on 12/22 and was very excited to try it. It took a while to find meyer lemons, but finally found them at Whole Foods. I finallly found the brioche bread. Maybe there should be an alternative suggestion on the speciality items. I was reviewing the recipe prior to making it and found several questionable things. 1 In the bread pudding part there is a list of ingredients that includes 1 tablespoon of meyer lemon juice, but no instruction on putting it in the recipe. 2 No where did it tell you where to use the blackberries 3 and nowhere did it tell you where to use the other 1/4 cup of sugar. I returned to tohe computer and found out someone else had found the mistakes and 2 of the 3 questions had been corrected. I still don't see where it says to add the lemon juice to the pudding, but I just assumed it was to be added. Is this a conspiricy!?

I saw this dessert on the HGTV Dream House special. I pulled it up on the computer and purchased the ingredients just for the bread pudding. I couldn't find a Brioche so I subsituted croissants. The first problem I noticed was that it had 1 1/4 cups of sugar, but it only uses 1 cup. What do you do with the 1/4 cup left over? The second thing is it has 1 tablespoon of Meyer lemon juice, but never tells you where to add it. The third and last, the recipe tells you to put it in the oven, but not at what temperature. I set the oven at 325 degrees and kept an eye on it. I am lucky enough to own a KitchenAid steam oven. I didn't need to put it in a second pan with water. I haven't tried the topping yet. The family really liked it.
