I made this dish this past weekend. I scaled it down for my 22" paella pan. It's time consuming and expensive, but well worth it. There were smiles and full bellies all around. Next time, I'll get all the prep work done ahead of time. It was DELICIOUS. We are still talking about it. Thanks Bobby, U ROC (-:

Awesome. Just made it and we are talking about making it again. Told multiple people about good it was and a must try. Missing the peppers the first time, but found them eventually. We halved the recipe, and enjoyed the left overs the next day. I did all the prep work ahead of time, so we did not think it was difficult. Gotta love Bobby.

We did this paella last night for some friends and it was a top notch hit, and they are hard to please when it comes to food. It took a good 2 hours to put together but was so worth the effort. Thanks Bobby! We'll be using this paella for a long time to come.

Now, I have to say this recipe excited me and I can't wait to try it.. Now I don't have a staff or a BBQ like Bobby's but I do have imagination!! I want to take his idea and make it to the best of my ability, maybe not as big but big enough to share with friends.. The one thing I do have is the lobster, lobster my husband dove for, not Main but California lobster and I bet it will be just as good if not better.. So thank you Bobby for a great idea, I for one found it a great show and couldn't turn it off until you were done.. I want to try the Pork Roast too, looked so good as do must of your recipes..

Paella, like Lasagna, is time consuming but worth the work. Granted Bobby's version is complicated and ingredient intensive but be creative (which is what cooking is all about and add or delete ingredients. My family is from Spain and I've been cooking Paella since I was a young girl and have changed, adjusted and improvised the recipe many times. It's basically a simple dish of rice and ingredients and with some planning can be made relatively quickly and easily. The key ingredients are good short grain rice and saffron, all else can be changed/adjusted to your individual taste. Sometimes I just make this with Chicken and Chorizo and it's always a big hit...just let your imagination run with it and enjoy the process and results! Hope this helps.

Looks like a lot of modifications need to be made to appeal to the average home cook like myself, with just one grill. Thinking the recipe would need to be cut in half due to the fact that I don't think I know enough people to have over to eat all of the paella. Seems like though all I need to do is grill a bunch of seafood and other meats, and add it to a skillet with rice on my average little grill. Exicted to try it soon, after payday of course, doesn't seem like a cheap meal either.
