I took these brownies to a party and they were a HUGE hit! Especially with the guys. There was not one man at the party that didn't go back for more. At the end of the evening when I was passing the plate one more time to rid myself of the demon brownies (so I wouldn't have them at home tempting me & my husband the host of the party said "don't encourage anyone to finish those brownies because I'd like them for myself". and he guarded them and said "MINE" You wouldn't have believe it was a church group the way they were fighting over them. LOL, They are very rich and luscious. Definately a KEEPER Recipe! My only suggestions is to cut them way smaller than Bobby's picture because they are SUPER RICH!

My daughter asked me to prepare two batches of brownies for a group of her friends. I found this one and, having the utmost trust in all Flay recipes, decided to use it as part of the package. Boy, were we surprised just how wonderful these were. I made them the day before her party and it was good that the recipe makes 24 as both the daughter and wife were caught in a midnight frig raid attacking these things. I found out after the party they were a bit slow in being eaten at first (beer will do that to something this decadent but later on she found that the entire plate had suddenly disappeared from the table. When I do these again I will definitely do less swirling of the peanut butter caramel mixture as I over did it. Did not hurt the end result but definitely blended the two distinct tastes of chocolate and peanut butter caramel too much. As others have noted, there is an error in the recipe so make sure you read it several times or you will get confused with how to incorporate the bittersweet chocolate in its different ways. This was mentioned in several other reviews also.

As a dark chocolate lover these are heaven and the recipe is relatively easy to make, however, I did use generic brown sugar and just simple bakers chocolate for the "high-quality chocolate" or whatever the recipe called for. If you like brownies to be sweet and sugary I would definitely recommend upping the sugar content by 1/2 a cup or so. Great recipe!

We are not a peanut butter with chocolate loving house, except for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. But these brownies, which I was making for my brother-in-law's 50th birthday, were AWESOME! The peanut butter caramel was so smooth and creamy, not grainy or dry like other peanut butter chocolate recipes. The flavors and textures complimented each other perfectly! Bobby, you should have definitley won that throwdown!!!!
The only change I DID make to the recipe was increasing the sugar to 2 cups granulated and 1 cup brown, I used regular brown sugar also. I felt it was toooo dark with the 6 squares of unsweetened chocolate with just the 2 cups of sugar.
Thank you again for this recipe.
I will definitely use it again and again for the peanutbutter, choclate lovers in our lives!!!!!

When I am baking, I add a pizza stone to the bottom of my oven for some extra heat-retention, and I let the oven preheat for an additional 15 minutes past the time the oven tells me it's preheated (thanks to Good Eats for those tips. I get much more consistent results, especially with moist, dense items like these brownies or a chocolate souffle. Otherwise, you're guessing at that sweet spot between chocolate soup and a chocolate rock. You can get it right without those precautions -- the 5th or 6th time.

The first 2 ounces of bittersweet chocolate is melted and stirred into the batter. The remaining 4 ounces of bittersweet chocolate is not melted and is stirred into the batter towards the end. I always have to reread the recipe when ingredients are divided, it can get confusing. Enjoy! :

I thought this recipe was pretty good but I like my brownies with a bit more flour. The peanut butter caramel mixture was great all by itself!

I would also like to ask why people feel the need to be cruel to each other when they post reviews. It certainly doesn't add to the review and only causes hurt feelings. Seriously, if you can't be kind, then just don't say anything at all.

Since you're incapable of being kind to others, I think it would be better to keep you rude comments to yourself, I mean with that attitide you're probably single, recently divorced, or making someone in your house completly miserable.

And I think you meant, "can't SPEAK English properly..." Considering the fact that Shelly did not spell the word "English" in her comment, but ther misspelled a few words.
